First Fischer Basketball Luncheon This Wed, Nov 13th at Anna's
https://tribeathletics.com/news/2019/11/...ath=mbball

Hey, great news. The basketball lunches at Anna's Brick Oven on Richmond Road are continuing with Dane Fischer!

And you have to love the name they chose: "Dining with Dane".

First one is next Wednesday, November 13th at Anna's Brick Oven
at noon. We'll have three games under our belt by then and it'll be
interesting to get his up-to-date assessment pf the team.

And the Tribe posting (see web address above) mentions three more,
as we had in the past...Dec 10, Jan 14, and Feb 18.

Nice to see these continue, though I won't be able to make any this year

NJ Alum...Hey, nobody misses Tony more than I do. But these lunches are great, informative and give all of us a chance to know Fischer who...whether one likes it or not...is now our head coach and basketball future.

And he appears to be a fine person, off to a very positive start and, at least as far as I'm concerned, a worthy successor to Tony.

I, for one, will be at Anna's next Wednesday at noon to hear him.

Doggone it man!

You go to these things. I can't. You pressed the flesh with Tony. I've never met Tony.

How about a simple ... this is going to be a very bittersweet event? How about writing that?

This isn't about Dane. I love the hire.

This is about the man thrown out with the trash, and an event being held in the same spot where that man used to hold court.

Bittersweet.

Say it. You can do it.

And by the way. When you do get a chance to talk to Dane, ask him to pass along to Tony that there are still some of us who have Tony's back, and will have Dane's back if the same thing happens to him.

At the risk of wading into this lunacy, what on earth does this event have to do with Tony Shaver? This is the equivalent of, after Gene Nicol resigned, demanding everyone accost Taylor Reveley every time they set foot on campus.

This may come as a shock, but some of us follow WM basketball as entertainment (as poor a choice as that is), not to argue about Tony Shaver at every opportunity.

Move along. Come back when you have a clear understanding of hypocrisy, what it means, and how it applies to the original post of this thread. It’s not about the event; it’s about how the event was “announced” at the top, and by whom.

The great thing about these lunches is talking basketball with many of our most informed and savvy basketball fans in an informal, informative meeting with the head coach and, from time to time, his staff and, when available, some of the players.

Looking forward to seeing fellow alumni and talk hoops. Surprised that they are doing this on Wednesday when we have an away game at Wofford the night before but with our travel schedule not many options. Good they are continuing this tradition and would have been unfair to the owner of the venue to change locations.

I appreciate the correct phonetic spelling, similar to the "p" in Clempson

I'm confused, are we referring to Wolford College in Naples, FL or Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC?

This makes literally zero sense.

No need to be confused as the schedule says Wofford, I fixed the typo...….

The way we've been playing...and we fervently hope it continues at Wofford tonight...the Fischer lunch tomorrow at Anna's
should be a great one for his first.

Comment and thread got added onto the Hampton game as the link above shows, sorry guys. Here were my thoughts in that thread:

Room was packed and lots of good interaction. He plans to continue emphasizing our man to man D and the team goals are to limit the other team to 10 offensive rebounds while committing no more that 14 fouls. We should continue to see Ayesa in the rotation and Harvey only as a backup for Knight and VV. Lowe got a lot of praise for his improvement from last year by both Coach D and the group. Also glad to see our AD Huge attend the luncheon.
