It was announced yesterday that the Auburn Tigers will host the Jags in 2025. It will be the 2nd time the Tigers have played an in-state G-5 team as they hosted UAB a few years ago. They've never played South or Troy heretofore in football. All I can say is it's about time they play Troy also.

Great precedent for Auburn to set. In-state games help P5 and G5 schools alike. You can see this in Olympic sports and football is not an exception.

You are remembering correctly. I’m hoping this game can help with recruiting the next several years. I never expected to see us line up against Alabama and still don’t, but I didn’t think Auburn would play us either. This is a pleasant surprise.

Auburn nor Alabama has ever played Troy. We've played football for 100+ years, and somehow they've avoided us the whole time.

Troy has only played Auburn's "freshman" teams and Alabama's "JV" teams back in the 1930's. We are 3-0 against both squads at least.

Auburn hasn't won a game in Death Valley in 20 years. Troy smacked LSU in Death Valley just two years ago. Auburn isn't going to risk playing Troy.

Auburn AD has said on Montgomery TV news that Auburn will never schedule Troy in football as long as he’s AD.

They don't play us for the same reason we play Alabama State and not Jacksonville State.

Maybe. But also they refuse to play at our place. When we were moving to D1 in 2001 we offered to keep them on our schedule but at our house only, due to the rules.

I guess Auburn feels that they would lose prestige if they lost to Troy or UAB. Kind of like Kentucky basketball refusing (forever until lately) to play Louisville. Pride can be an ugly thing. The Auburn AD needs to be more classy.

Wonders gown the rules feel about neutral sight games. Could that game be played in Montgomery??? Of course it would still have to be considered a Troy “home” game for the rules.
