WMU’s best win this year is Georgia State and Miami’s is Buffalo. If CMU gets in their best win is against Eastern Michigan. Yeah, the MAC is really bad this year.

Also really just accentuates how bad NIU is this year. All of these subpar teams out in front and NIU is not even in the race.

It's a shame Hammock couldn't get this team on track this year because they're almost giving away the championship in 2019. Timing can mean everything and Carey got very lucky with his.

If we get shallacked by Toledo it won't matter. But if the team somehow finds its grove and runs the table.......conflicted. I know its good but It will feel a little bad.

If we get "shellacked" by Toledo it will matter unless it is not a rivalry.
If that is the case then nobody should ever again say it is a rivalry.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The very very slight chance road to Detroit still looks extremely unlikely but not impossible! The result that scares me of all the remaining things NIU needs to happen is probably Ball State beating CMU, not sure that is possible right now.

But have also beaten CMU, Ball St., Miami, and Ohio...given the current state of the MAC, that is a solid resume and the Georgia State game was a beatdown...

From what I've read, the projection is a shortage of eligible teams, so 6-7 should go.

Wait, shouldn’t we want CMU to win that game? CMU wins and “all” it takes is Ball State losing one more and Toledo beating CMU.

RE: Road to Detroit
If someone wants to figure it out here’s the MAC tie breaker rules:

1.Head-to-head record among tied teams
2.Record of tied teams within the division (versus rank order, highest to lowest, of division teams)
3.Comparison of conference winning percentage of cross-over opponents of tied teams

I’m calling the ticket office this morning to get my name on the list for the MACC and bowl game (even if it’s in the Bahamas)!

RE: Road to Detroit
I have coffee and day off sooooo...

here is the best case scenario according to those rules:
(This is assuming NIU wins out and Toledo beats CMU)

1. CMU HAS to beat Ball St. With head2head between all tied teams being 1st tie breaker. BSU is 2-1 and CMU is 1-2. WMU,NIU,Toledo will be 2-2. CMU wins and 5 way tie at 2-2 h2h.

2. Then in overall west division play 4 teams will be 3-2. WMU will be 2-3 and eliminated.

3. Then conference opponent winning %. We’d be second in that. Having Akron on our schedule absolutely killed that percentage for us. We have the same opponents as BSU except 1 game. NIU played Akron and they played kent. Akron has 0 wins. Best case is 2. Kent has 3 wins.

Well....

If Ball State beats CMU then loses out, and then Toledo beats CMU.

Ball State and CMU both would have 4 conference losses. Toledo, NIU, and WMU all have 3 and NIU has head to head wins over both so NIU goes to Detroit.

That may be the most realistic scenario if what you’re saying is true.

It’s weird. Those rules were per SBnation but there’s no mention of conference record? Only division record and opponents conference winning percentage. But maybe I read it wrong and it means winning percentage of the team’s you beat after overall record? Idk. I think they paraphrased the rules.

It looks correct. I think the only route is the one I laid out above, which is in line with what MD was getting at

RE: Road to Detroit
Found the official Mac rule(2007)

1. Head-to-head competition
a. In the event of a multiple-team (two or more teams) tie, the team with the best head-to-head record amongst the tied teams wins the tie-breaker;

b. In a two-team tie, head-to-head competition will be the first criteria;

c. If two teams did not play, the second criteria is used to break the tie;

2. Record of tied teams within the division [versus rank order, highest to lowest, of division teams]
a. The above tie-breaker procedure is used to determine rank order in the division;

b. Team(s) eliminated in the second tie-breaker criterion are not included in further consideration in the tie- breaking formula;

c. Head-to-head competition is again used to break the tie between the remaining tied teams.

3. Comparison of conference winning percentage of cross-over opponents of tied teams;
a. Tie-breaker is awarded to the team whose cross-division opponents had the best cumulative conference winning
b. Head-to-head competition is used to break the tie between the two tied teams.

4. If multiple teams remain tied, the final tie-breaker is as follows:
a. Record of tied teams versus cross-division opponents in rank order;

b. Head-to-head competition is used to break the tie between the two tied teams.

If this is correct and I understand it, we’d get eliminated in 2-C. WMU would be eliminated at 2-A and that would then make our h2h record only 1-2. While other teams go to 2-1.

Someone might have to copy/paste the OP. The OP is on a lot of people's ignore lists and thus hidden, which may be the source of confusion.
