AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE (1-2)
W @Bahamas: Rice 77, East Carolina 69 • Nov. 24

Nice to beat one of our conference rivals formerly, that is.

At least we're 6-3 so far and in mid-pack, which is an improvement.

Conference season might get interesting for those who play Rice this season. Stay tuned.

And more importantly puts the AAC battle in play. Need three of the last five to tie, which may just be possible.

Too bad UNT couldn’t steal the upset today, MWC (#15 Utah State) won the deciding game against us.

Exactly right. ODU did its part in keeping this a one bid league. I knew we'd struggle early but this is a bit worse than I thought. Seems like the team took a vacation in the Cayman Islands and forgot they have to play ball while they are there.

Thanks for the hard work on this Cardiff

MBB game-scores vs. OOC opponents
Well we are most definitely improved from the last couple of years, BUT we are almost certainly off the table as an at-large contender now. We had a couple games we could have won that could have made that case. No more left on our OOC to move the needle.

As for multi bid... it’s more about getting 2 or 3 legit tourney teams (and much less about bringing the bottom up). Let’s see if we can get Rice back in the conversation by next season, & everybody else keep improving, too.

Eta: I say ‘back’ in the conversation like it was yesterday. We had a decent year under Rhodes but the last time we were in the neighborhood of a conversation about an at-large bid was 1992.

Another year another 1 bid league, A-10 may get 5 teams in easy this season...

Cardiff, the Marshall/Duquesne game on Dec 29 is at Cleveland as a part of a WVU/OSU doubleheader. We get them in Huntington next year.
