I will say that, after the Johnson and Wales game, I walked away with a lot of concerns. But, after a 16 point loss to UNC, I walked away impressed with the energy of this team. They never looked intimidated at any time. I was more impressed with the defense that looked much improved. And, even though we shot poorly against the Heels, we created plenty of open shots. I believe the shooting will get much better. We now have a guy who can play with his back to the basket. We have guys who can penetrate and score. Kai's three ball is looking much better. And when his 10-12 foot shots start dropping, he will be even harder to handle. He's working hard on his D. And I see that getting better also. We basically only had one point guard last year and we tired him out in games. Now we have three legitimate PG's. I still see Kai as our number one point. But he has help to share that position and keep him fresh, without losing a beat. I like our freshman class. And I think they are ahead of most freshman classes we have had. Dodd, even though he is not as tall as some of us would like, he will become a beast. He's ahead of Cacock as a freshman. And, even though I don't expect him to grow in leaps and bounds like Devonte did, he will still have a very good career at the Dub. So, like I said, I am more encouraged about this team with the loss, than I was with the win. I think the next two games will tell us much more about where this team is going.

My only concern about the UNC game is that I never felt like they were playing their hardest. I don't think they ever really felt a threat of losing, and we aren't a conference foe, so it's hard to compare to ND. They were our superbowl, but not the reverse. I agree that the next few games will be a better baramoter. The most import game will be Davidson. They are a notch above but not so far above they can dismiss us and still win. They are always competitive and will be a tough out. If we could somehow come out of there with the W, i'd put on my teal colored glasses and go all-in on this team. We have yet to beat a team we shouldn't in the McGrath era. This would be the time to do it.

We beat Hofstra last year. They were undefeated in the conference and expected to easily handle us.

But, McGrath felt comfortable without either in the game foul trouble or not. He could have easily let Dodd play until he fould out instead, but he didn't. We were down 20, so what we he have had to lose?

True. It'll be interesting to see how our rotation looks against Campbell, who I view to be a slightly better team at the moment.

Yep. Didn't see the game but winning @ Coastal was an impressive start to their season. Coastal was picked to finish 7th in a competitive Sun Belt by the Coaches.

Two guys for Coastal went for mid 20's and then nobody else was double figures. They lacked balance that night. If Hawks want to have a better year, they need to beat Campbell.

So you're saying it wasn't an impressive win for a team that just lost one of the nation's leading scorers to graduation?

Apparently Campbell is a totally different team this year. They have the slowest offense in the nation. Definitely more of a team system.

So you are saying they won't almost break a hundred on us?

Brownell ball. Interesting. That'll be nice preparation for our CAA games with Charleston, who play at a plodding pace as well.

Campbell is a better school academically, and there might not have been a scholarship/role available to him. He transferred to Campbell from Chattanooga, after all.

In addition, not all coaches sons want to play for their dads.
