One game is a fluke not a weakness.

Like it or not, every team has weaknesses. App State is no exception. Good coaches exploit weaknesses while bad coaches refuse to make necessary adjustments.

BTW, your numbers were wrong. The QB was sacked 3 times and ran two other times. Those 5 carries for -13 yards get placed in the rushing stats in college football.

So in actuality, SC only ran the ball 16 times for 40 yards, not great but not definitive either. That's hardly depending on your rushing game, or even attempting to figure it out. It's dumb coaching play calling at best or giving up on the run at worst.

I'm not saying we don't have a weakness. I'm saying our weakness isn't at the LOS. You don't get 3 sacks and allow a total of 21 rushing yards against a bigger opponent by having a weakness at the LOS.

Georgia Southern disagrees, 6.0 YPC 335 yards rushing. Georgia State also disagrees, also rushing for 6.0 YPC despite getting crushed on the scoreboard. Charlotte also disagrees, gashing App State for 7.1 YPC and 276 yards rushing. I guess it wasn't a one game fluke after all.

Perhaps it was a fluke that App State stopped SC for 40 yards rushing on 16 carries. That fluke will probably get the SC head coach fired for only running the ball 16 times.

Charlotte averaged 5.8 YPC for 230 yards. 7.1 YPC for 276 is what we had against them. ETSU 3.5 YPC, UNC 3.7 YPC, Coastal 4.4 YPC, ULL 3.7 YPC, ULM 3.8, USA 2.3 YPC, USC 0.8 YPC. Yes fluke.

When you look at the games individually you have Charlotte which was the 2nd game with a new coaching staff. Georgia Southern is a rivalry game. And Georgia State was a blowout where we started playing 2nd and 3rd stringers. When every other team we've played averages less than 4.5 YPC then I'm gonna stick with LOS isn't a weakness.

Georgia State wasn't over until your starting QB threw a TD in the 4th quarter to make it a 4 score game. Lets face it, a 3 score game, many of your starters are still in. I suspect most starters were in at least until the 4th quarter. By than Georgia State was probably passing more than running.

Judging by the statistics, I'm going with an opposite theory, LOS is not a strength some games not a weakness other games. Also, I still wouldn't mind App State becoming the 12th football team, maybe VCU the 12th BB team.

It was a 3 score game in the third and we were rolling. A lot of 2nd and 3rd string guys on the defensive side of the ball in the 2nd half. But you're totally right. App is probably the weakest team ever. 9 wins at this point is a total fluke. Every team should rush for 900 yards against us every game. You should know after all. You watch way more App football than I do. Whatever helps you sleep.

If we ever did join, at least you could benefit from an occasional trip up the mountain in the fall. Cool mountain air, questionable morals, good food and moonshine that’ll make you go blind. We aren’t the best looking people but we are quite accommodating.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story. App State didn't make it a 3 score game until 5:58 left in the 3rd. It was a 2 score game until that point against a team that had scored 3 TDs against App State until that point.

A homer watching their team doesn't always see the facts but what they want to see. I guarantee an honest App State fan would realize the game wasn't over in the 3rd quarter, especially until they made it a 3 score game with 5:58 left.

Been not too far from there on vacation a few times. We stayed in Beech Mountain and been to Grandfather Mountain and of course Mount Mitchell a few times. The last time to Mount Mitchell was terrible fog getting there and could barely see a thing driving there. We like the area.

I will concede that I didn't feel like it was in hand until we went up 3 scores but we did score 49 unanswered after their pick 6... and as an honest App fans who has been to and/or watched every game this year, I never felt like we were in trouble or that the game was in doubt.

I will also say, that I think we should be ahead of Boise right now, along with Memphis, Cincy and SMU. I do think however, it would be hard to argue that a 1 loss App State as SBC champ is not deserving of the Cotton bowl bid (assuming of course the AAC Champ has 2 losses).

Good to see an honest answer from an App fan. I agree that a 1 loss App State may get the nod over a 2 loss AAC champ provided the AAC doesn't see a split between Cincy and Memphis.

If those two teams win the rest of their schedule but split, the 2 loss AAC champ still may get in due to the top teams beating each other up, along the scale of when top P5 teams lose to top P5 teams. When the top P5 teams lose to other top P5 teams, the loser doesn't seem to drop much.

In either case, I'd rather App State get in over Boise, if an AAC champ make it for whatever reason.
