Someone on the tweet thing posted a comparison of Cincy and WFU and Cincy beats them on every strength metric.

RE: Memphis #21 in Initial CFP Poll
Minnesota is an interesting case. They could've easily lost their first four games against South Dakota State, Fresno, Georgia Southern, and Purdue. They won each of those by a TD or less, including a 2OT 3-point win over Fresno. The best team they've beaten is Georgia Southern, who is #40 according to Realtime RPI.

I'm expecting Penn State to beat Minnesota by 2 touchdowns or more on Saturday. If that happens, will Minnesota tumble like SMU did? Or will they only slip slightly because PSU is #4 in the CFP ranking? My guess is the latter since they play in one of the two true "power" conferences (B1G and SEC).

We might as well go ahead and prepare ourselves now to be raped by the officiating when we play Cincy.

Or Wake Forest who has played NOBODY. Even Minn has played NOBODY but gets the auto rank for being in the B1G. Neither of these schools should be ranked above any of the AAC schools ranked.

And BTW, Memphis should be above Cincy simply because we have beat 2 ranked schools & have a middle SEC win.

10th is not the middle of 14

We need to win out, even the conference championship.

It's going to be a tough goal, because AAC is very tough conference, as we all now.

As Coach Norvell likes to say, "1-0" is all we are thinking.

One game at a time...

GTG!!!

RE: Memphis #21 in Initial CFP Poll
As expected. Gotta keep the G5 low in the initial poll in case the preferred P5 teams lose games down the stretch.

They are sending a clear message that whoever wins out in the G5 gets the Cotton. Boise is undeserving but they are right there in the middle of all the AAC schools. Boise has beaten nobody, and has no one left. Cincy, Memphis, Navy, SMU will all have to beat at least 2 currently ranked teams in order to win out.

There are 3 teams outside the top 6 who have beaten 2 top 25 CFP ranked teams: #12 Baylor, #14 Michigan, #21 Memphis.
There are 2 teams who are 2-0 versus top 25 teams, but also have 1 loss to a team outside the top 25: #6 Georgia, #21 Memphis.
There are 2 teams ranked ahead of us who have zero top 25 wins and also have 1 "bad" loss: #8 Utah, #19 Wake Forest.
#23 Oklahoma St is 1-1 versus top 25, and has two "bad" losses. They are the only team with > 1 bad loss. They are ahead of Navy and SMU, who have zero bad losses.

Their love for Boise is silly, but the love for Utah is ridiculous. Utah has not played any top 25 teams, and they have 1 bad loss. Their average SOS (using 3 rankings) is #81. They are ranked #8.

Good analysis. The talking heads will spend a hundred hours announcing the first CFP poll and never mention any of this....it’s like a train wreck where all the first responders go to the first class cars to check on perceived slights and bumps while the 2nd class car has full on decapitations and nobody’s paying attention....

If we win out that "Secret Committee" will have a top 10 Memphis team in the Cotton Bowl, plain & simple!

Boise hasn’t played anybody. They beat Florida St but they are a bad team this year and other than them Boise beat a decent Air Force. That’s it

SMU:
37-30 @ Ark St
49-27 North Texas
47-17 Texas State
41-38 @ TCU, yeah good win, but has that rivalry factor
48-21 @ South Florida
43-37 3OT Tulsa, should have lost 2 or 3 times on missed FGs
45-21 Temple, "ok" win, maybe call it "good"
34-31 @ Houston
then the big L

Boise could say SMU hasn't played anybody except a down TCU and a decent Temple.

If rivalrys don't count then the LSU-BAMA game is a wash?

Interesting that all the G5schools were ranked in the bottom 5, with a 3 loss OSU in the mix. Feels like an afterthought

I would guess we move up at least 3 spots in the poll as of right now.

I disagree. I think we will be the team they are pushing this time.
