If you UNC, it's approved. If you ODU, it's either delayed or denied.

THey've gone through about 60 of them and are about halfway through.

Its also certainly not true that P5 get all waivers and G5 get denied. Tennessee, for example, was just denied a waiver.

I guess I should have used the sarcasm emoji...

Maybe we need to stop taking transfers from Clemson. If it doesn't bring in a dollar to Clemson you will NEVER get help from their Athletic Department.

TOTALLY different situation. Donte played and Oliver didn't.

In a freaking closed scrimmage for 8 minutes. Don't give me 'different situation.' That is bullcrap. The same week we were denied for Hill, Georgetown was granted a waiver for immediate eligibility for a player that had played 8 games for his prior school the previous season. And it was NOT to be closer to family. It came down to Georgetown being in the Big East and we were nobody.

Situations mean nothing to the NCAA. $$$$$ is the only language they speak or understand.

I don't agree that Hill should have lost eligibility from a scrimmage. But, this is a different situation; this is concerned with whether Oliver has to sit out or not; not if he's eligible.

Who was that from Georgetown? They are my 1(b) school and I cannot remember who you are talking about.

Those are the rules...know them or face the penalty. Also..Cooper lost a year that could have been a redshirt year because he played as a sophomore.

Tennessee lost an appeal for a waiver on one of their players yesterday, it can happen to Power 5 schools.

RE: Oliver Waiver
I don’t remember the player at g-town. The reason I remember the incident is that Dickie V in an early season broadcast mentioned both and went on for a good bit about the little guy[us] getting the shirt end of the stick and G-town got something they shouldn’t have. Dickie V dies not often criticize the NCAA but he did then big time.

RE: Oliver Waiver
YES, I am tired of the NCAA rulings. So,now we know Oliver will not play until the Illinois game, on December 14th. My question however, is when is Dimitris Karaiskos is going to play? We recruited him last year and he was hurt then, so is he going to actually play this year or redshirt? We need big guy's to help our game inside or should I say depth.

RE: Oliver Waiver
His frustration is probably that there is no reasoning behind which waivers they grant. I don't see how Dickens got approved if Oliver did not.

That's the real crux of the issue. They truly seem to have no rhyme or reason when it comes to the waivers.

Everyone wonders the same thing. None of it makes sense to me. Reminds me of what happened with Dante Hall. The NCAA is a joke.

It really sucks we won't have him for VCU.

I agree with JJ in that NCAA should just allow a 1-time transfer for all student-athletes, regardless of situation (including grad transfers). After that, any other transfer results in having to sit a year. This would eliminate the need for the "objective" decision making for the NCAA.

I don't know. Seems to me every school would just be openly recruiting players from other schools then. It'd be just another step in making non P5s a farm league for the P5. Especially now that it looks more and more likely kids will be allowed to get paid. If NC state needs a point guard, just go after the best pg in the CAA or CUSA, tell him he will get $200,000 in likeness deals if he transfers. I hate the thought of that.
