Small pet peeve. I know he’s just doing his job but he’s getting really annoying. Who thought up the ideal that the fans need a ‘pump up’ guy walking around between breaks? Mascots not enough?
I also thought it was bush league to announce records being set or broken during the game. With the player on the jumbo-tron and the outcome still in doubt.
Never seen that before anywhere. Except Rickey Henderson’s “Today I am the greatest of all-time moment”

I've seen them stop games and announce it. Even at the HS level
They are always annoying. He's not the first. We should cheer when we want to cheer, in fact, we already have a whole mess of cheer leaders. Every time that basketball or football starts doing good they talk somebody into doing this "to help us understand when and what to cheer".
And, we couldn't hear how loud we were, and we were loud, because of the stupid piped in music between each play. One time they even played it over the band and drowned our band out. I don't go to many regular season games other places, but I don't think they do this stuff every where, do they?
While we're at it, the PA guy was still doing the little "3rd down" shtick when SMU was obviously going to play all 4 downs and 3rd down was completely meaningless, I already knew it was third down every single time anyway.

Gibson had an awesome night; he deserved to be recognized. Joey was deserving as well.
I’m sure how it made the players feel by far surpassed your mild discomfort about it.

That’s a normal thing. Were you at the Tulane game?

This is a big time trend in CFB and CBB. To fight decreasing attendance resulting from the wonders of at home big screen TVs, colleges everywhere are employing these guys for a more 'experiential' fan memory. I don't like it either, but it is what it is.
People complaining about too much production at games should visit big time venues that are still successful. They have mic men, loud rap music after every play and cool light shows.

That's actually pretty common
Maybe, but I've never seen it. Distracting, considering FB is a team sport with such announcements DURING a game. It says 'look at me' instead of look at us & focusing on a team win in a team sport. Plenty of time for "me" after the game.

I hadn't been a fan of the hype guy this season, but I gotta admit...Saturday, he did a hell of a job. Maybe the place being packed made him sound better.

Who?
Who has the "slick production" that some of our fans think is not fitting?
