I thought cold/rain/etc... was your home field advantage? That’s all I’ve heard for years from app fans.

It usually is an advantage. The weather had nothing to do with that loss. Unfortunately.

50 mph sustained winds help nobody (except for teams that throw twice a game). If the wind was not a factor that game would have ended differently

You still have to play Troy and GA State after your ass beating tonight so try not to make this thread about you. Good game Troy, knew you were better than your record indicated.

Statesboro Blues indeed. Saturday just didn’t go well for you, did it?

RE: Game Thread : Georgia Southern @ Troy
Whew funny to see the App fans chirping again. Where were you since about 1130PM Oct 31?

I will say, of what I've seen from Troy, this looked like their most complete game of the year. There's a lot to be said about playing with your back against the wall. There's not a lot of room for error if they want to make a bowl.

Also Kaleb Barker is as good as advertised. We made really good plays on several of the routes last night but the ball was just rifled in there. It also didn't help that Vildor wasn't on the field either. App may get a bit of a rude awakening playing him as well. There's a big difference between watching him and Smith play.

Troy totally had no respect for us passing, cause we wouldn't go to it enough or execute consistently enough for it to matter. Defense keyed on the flow of the offense and flooded to wherever that motion went. That included on pass plays where the PA didn't matter because they were crashing hard in the middle anyway with as many as possible. Some of our best passing was on rollout/sprintouts (which I wish we would do more of, Werts has shown he's not confident in the pocket and takes way too many sacks...get him out in space to make throws). Basically to gut our offense, everyone can just fully ignore our WRs, crash the middle of our line, and rotate the top of your defense to whatever side we're flowing to. You may get burned for a few plays but we won't do it consistently enough for it to matter.

Hopefully we start seeing some of the young OL get some playing time as we'll need the OL to grow up some going into next year. We've had issues there all year whether it be execution or attrition. I'd like to beat ULM at home, but that's not an easy task. stAte will be hard to deal with cause the passing game will likely rip the middle of defensive backfield apart although if they want to start throwing until late like they did against Gast I won't complain. Then hopefully we can take care of Gast to finish the season.

7-5 is where a lot of people pegged us to finish this season with our schedule and it looks like that may be accurate. At this point I'm going to call it good if we can make a bowl. This season has been a mess.

At 11:30 pm on Oct 31st I was leaving the stadium and I was pissed. But in the am, I came on here and said “good game” because I thought you guys played great and I’m not into excuses about the weather.

That said, you guys sh*t the bed @ Troy, and combined with our win, why wouldn’t we chirp?

Rain & cold yes, when you throw the ball, 40-50 mph wind gusts no. Troy threw for 330 yards with basically a backup QB. In a similar weather situation Thomas probably throws for 400 and App wins by 2-3 TD's. But it wasn't and we didn't. It was a fortunate turn of events for the Eagles, for the 2nd year in a row, that essentially took the CPOY out of the game. I'm already looking forward to next year.

Backup?

I'm puzzled also.

Sawyer Smith was the back-up to Barker last season.

RE: Game Thread : Georgia Southern @ Troy
I'm glad this thread got bumped, cause I do have a question for Troy fans.

Are ya'll disappointed with your gameday ops? It seemed like your band never really got to play and I know that's a big thing for ya'll. Not sure why music was blasted over the PA as much as it was. A lot of us were confused sitting in the stands.

Just wondering if there's been some changes cause I don't remember things like that from my previous trips and how people feel about it.
