BTW, I don't know who starts at PG, but Montero (SG), Morgan (SF), Toure ©, and Binelli (PF).

Here's the promo clip for this year. What struck me was no mention at all of Parris is he in the doghouse before the season starts?

I think I’m gonna like Montero.

They showed Parris a few times, but you’re right. Murphy didn’t mention him, nor anyone else really except for Groce, Toure, and King.

I liked hearing Murphy say that we are going to press. Take advantage of having big, quick guards.

Majority of those practice clips seemed to be offensive drills. That might be a good sign as well. But yes, Montero seems to have a great attitude and perspective!

Great posts and links everyone! Enjoyed reading/reviewing.

Jerry,
I was originally ok with Murphy being extended. But had a change of heart after reading your perspectives. It seems like it was unnecessary to renew, and completely odd that it was unpublicized (if not deliberately hidden). I hope he will have a good season and I am eating my words. We’ll see...

RE: Game Week (MBB): Siena Heights
Ramy I know you are a season ticket holder like me and we BOTH are rooting for Rob Murphy this season, despite my displeasure with his surreptitious contract extension.

I see the key to this year's team to ride on one guy's shoulders, Ty Groce. I realize that as Sam pointed out, "he is easy to root for" but as Glory Days mentioned, he is "a D1 player".

2018 MAC tournament, less than two seconds left and we are inbounding the basketball vs Toledo. Murphy has Jackson, Minnie and Thompson available but chooses the alley-oop play to a freshman, Ty Groce instead, due to his athletic ability. The play did not work but it was a tribute to what Ty brings to the table.

I remember when Ty was started early in his freshman year, the immediate results were wonderful. Unfortunately shortly thereafter he was getting yanked after any kind of mistake and his production declined.

This guy is our messiah. A local guy we lucked into to, a great athlete and apparently a nice young man. Unfortunately in the Detroit News article, he was espousing the "Murphy doctrine of Defense". Just play good basketball Ty, and Murph please let him make some mistakes, it will work out for us all.

The entire basketball board, who do you think will be our leading scorer this season?

Ty Groce could play at bigger schools! He's a D1 player for sure!

Montero

Noah Morgan... according to his bio he averaged 11 points a game asa freshman st Fairleigh Dickinson. It would be reasonable to predict his development/maturation brings him a few more points per game. So high scorer at 14 points/game.

RE: Game Week/DAY: (MBB): Siena Heights
This may be shocking to many here but watch Toure.

He has a chance to average a double-double. Toure' will be much improved without JT4. The spread out court (because of the change in the 3-point line) will also unclog the lane for Toure'.

I assume Montero, Morgan and Toure' will all average double digits.

Another key to success is if Morgan can be a Tim Bond clone. Murphy has mentioned both in the same sentence.

For those with DirecTV, today's game will be on the ESPN College Extra channels. So our game will be on 'national TV' for those across America who want to call in sick to watch it in HD.

I'll be able to watch and record it. First game of the Montero/Morgan era. :)

A brand new team playing its first game together at 9:45 in the morning. If there was an “under”, I’d bet the mortgage on it. I’ll be happy if we shoot 40% from the field.

Thank you. BTW, we are starting pretty much a new lineup, BUT all are upperclassmen (although some needed an EMU tour guide during the summer to find their way around campus).

This team is not inexperienced... They just got their experience elsewhere.

I like the jerseys. Silhouette of the Ypsi skyline on the backs.
