It was 24-7 going into the 4th quarter

I'm surprised at how many first-place votes you have, honestly. It's not because I think it's unreasonable to have App at #1, it's just that people can be so knee-jerk with games like these.

I thought it was neat that the scoring pattern was nearly identical to Troy's upset win over LSU.

Apparently it's illegal to stub your toe. If we played the whole game like the 4th quarter we wouldn't be having this conversation. But alas, we did not.

While those 4 good offensive teams face one of the better defenses in the conference.

PPG Allowed to Conference opponents:

App: 15.6
UL: 18.5
GaSo: 26.25

Best defensive Conference game:

App: held UL to 7, 30 points below their average output
UL: held App to 17, 21 points below their season average.
GaSo held App to 21, 17 points below their season average

Worst defensive conference game:

App: Coastal got 37, 4 more than their season average.
UL: GaSo got 24, 1 less than their seazon average
GaSo: USA got 17, 2 more than their season average.

Looks like these 3 are playing pretty good defense by modern football standards, but App and UL are pretty clearly better than GaSo on that side of the ball, with App having the most outstanding defensive games in holding both Louisiana schools to 7, and UL being more consistent, holding every conference opponent below thejr season average.

Not sure where you got the defensive PPG statistics, but they're slightly off including making Louisiana's (and ours) worse than it actually is. I'll make it easy for you:

Also of the teams we have remaining:

Troy - Have not played App/Louisiana/Georgia Southern
ULM - Have not played Louisiana/Georgia Southern
stAte - Have not played App/Georgia Southern
Gast - Have not played App/Louisiana/Georgia Southern

So out of four teams that we have left, only 2 games have been played against the top defenses in the conference. And yes, we are one of the better defenses in the conference. This is what I was getting at in my post.

It would be 21.25 against Conf Opponents if you rule out OT. 2/4 conf opponents were the best offenses in the conference.

Interestingly, your best and worst performances were against those 2.

Also interesting is our best performance was in a loss, our worst in a win.

I only used conference games for the defensive numbers, to make the numbers reflect competition that the schools have in common.

.....the stats in that link are filtered to just conference opponents. They don't match yours. Or are you saying you only used the teams that each of the 3 has played to figure your averages?

In which case....specify that next time because there's not really a lot of overlap between us right now.

Just bad math on my part.
