Saw us play (and defeat) Vanderbilt in 1998. It'd be nice to schedule them again, Nashville's a nice destination to spend a weekend. Beautiful campus too.

Lived in Dyer, Vanderbilt Hall, and Tower2. Have family on staff. Actually prefer Miami's, OU's campuses. Downtown, Music Row, Opry, and Gibson
Custom Shop are a blast. Almost moved to Cool Springs.

You can't play on New Years day beating Delaware State, Wagner and Norfolk St every year. I'd like to see a home and home with UCF. UCF will rebound to top of G5 again, they are dealing with freshman QB issues. P5's and top AAC teams get you national TV exposure thru out the season, not just thru MAC action craziness in November.

This president wants us back to a NY6? I haven't seen much evidence of that yet.

What evidence do you want? Take all the P5's off future schedules? Have you talked to him?

I'm not demanding any evidence. I am just pointing out that I haven't seen any yet

We would get blown out worse than we did vs Sparty

1. Sparty is inconsistent. Unfortunately, with our D still trying to get on track so early in the season, and they having their A-game, they played like they did in the 1st half against Illinois for our entire game. If we played them again now, with them spiraling mid-season -- it'd be a close game if we brought our A-game (+Wassink not semi-injured).

2. If we made it to the Rose Bowl -- we'd have to be undefeated. Basically like Papa PJ's WMU team in '16 (with a tougher schedule to be higher ranked). Minnesota in their optimal year would not blow us out of the water. It'd be more like the PSU vs Minnesota game. Or the GA-Southern vs Minnesota game. Or the Purdue vs Minnesota game. :)

Same goes for Ferris. Just because you run D2 doesn't make you the top dog in the state.

A home-and-home with Minnesota would be interesting.

That wouldn’t even be entertaining. There is an enormous divide between the level of play between the two programs. Not to mention the number of injuries Hope would sustain in a game like this... They might have possibly 1 or 2 guys who could potentially walk on and contribute at the D1 level...

It would be interesting from a fan perspective leading up to the game... and we’d get to see how a community actually embraces the home team. Holland absolutely adores Hope athletics. I’ve attended basketball games at their arena and it’s no joke. I’d rather get a home and home with their BBall team...

Both Hope and Calvin basketball have better game day atmospheres than WMU, CMU, EMU, OU or UDM. That said, on-court talent and depth can't compete with DI. Maybe one or two players would be DI caliber (i.e. former Hope guard and MIAA player of the year, Peter Bunn, was a back-up point guard at OU, behind Jonathan Jones. Transferred to Hope for its superior academics and flourished on the court, too).

RE: Future Schedules
Not that it would ever happen (not sure it's allowed?) but it'd be cool to play GVSU just so we could stop hearing about how they could compete with us.

We played GVSU in 1979 (won 37-0) and 1982 (28-3).

I remember the GVSU coach waving the white flag when it got to 37-0. Was at a meeting in GR when Martin was coaching after Kelly left GVSU. Big GVSU donor company. Talking to the manager he makes smart ass comment after figuring out I follow WMU. "We wouldn't schedule you guys, we would play in East Lansing first and beat MSU". The D2 national titles were in his head big time. I told him WMU would put 50 on you and MSU maybe 70. Explained he didn't realize talent jump to D1 even at MAC level. The meeting didn't go well after that.
