Also I would think some NFL teams would be interested Coach Norvell. He's a young coach with a dynamic offense that players love. That's were the NFL is trending. If he doesn't leave Memphis after this season then I believe he loves it here and only a NFL gig will get him to leave.

Different environment in the NFL, IMO.
Massive egos, massive money and established veteran ways. Some of those guys are older than him, as well.
I wouldn't think he'd thrive there.

After last night's game I've seen fans from USC, Michigan State, Miss State, Auburn, FSU and especially Arkansas say they want to go after Norvell.

It feels like he's sincere about building a new Florida State at Memphis and not rebuild an old Florida State

He's also indicated that he likes recruiting the level of players he does. Also less pressure with that. Egos are less of a problem and buy in is much easier.

I think he stays for a while. Job security when your making the kind of money he is here, is important. He doesn't have to worry about that at all at Memphis and he knows that.

2.5 mill in Memphis is what in LA 6 million?

Kind of adorable how mid to lower level SEC schools think they can just get him, as though leaving a Memphis for a Moo is such a monumental step up he would not be able to resist if they lifted their skirt

What scares me is going to the Cotton Bowl. If we do that now, that's the most he can accomplish here. I'm not sure you stay once you've topped out.

Or he can continue to groom us for a potential expansion slot if someone like the Big12 decides to expand. I like that idea better.

If he gets a chance to coach at a big time school in a P5 conference he'd be better off taking it though. He'll never compete for a NC here unless the above fantasy scenario becomes a reality.

Coming into the season, we needed Malzahn, Helton, and Taggart to win. Fortunately, Gus did his part—I think Auburn, LSU, and A&M are the most natural fits for him. Though it’s East of his recruiting base, I think Norvell would kill it at FSU. Hopefully, their goofy administration is a deterrent.

OK, but there aren't but 5 SEC jobs worth the risk where a good coach has a legit chance to win - AL, Auburn, LSU, UGA & UF (yea aTm too although a good coach can't win big there either) - and none of those jobs are available. All the others are a 2-5 yr paycheck before being fired. Outside the SEC, FSU would be a great job but for them to fire Taggart now, they already have their candidate.

Ole Miss was told no, by more than just Norvell.

Arkansas wanted to lowball the pay because they were already on the hook for Buliema, and the donors didnt want to have t o repeat that with a coach making about $5million per year. So we can thank them for being stupid. Also, they are now stuck with Morris, because his buyout is like $9million, and they still owe Belima $320K per month through 2020.

Miss St went lowball as well. Got Moorehead for $2.6million. Norvell makes that now. They may need to look for another coach soon, as Rutgers is interested (or was) in Moorehead.

Word on the street is the seat is hot for Gus. Keep an eye out for N20AU. If you see it, uh oh.

Lashley called a pretty good game for SMU.

I hope not.
