SMUG fans are so self centered they can’t understand why Memphis media and Memphis Fans are celebrating Gameday at Memphis, not kissing their ass like they are the only reason Gameday is here.

Eventually the angle that they are finally recovering from the 1987 Death Penalty is a bit stale

All those stories were running a decade ago when June Jones got them to four straight bowls, with 3 wins.

Then they sucked again. But by now the sucking is no longer due to a deserving punishment in the Reagan era fer crissake.

With that, for the most part, they have been tolerable and the death penalty angle is more an ESPN thing, than the modest numbered fan base. I thought it was 13 but it is 16 D1 transfers so they are a different team than the one we have been kicking the crap out of for a half decade. And they are pretty good.

These are two programs that are both fighting for attention. You're not going to convince me that if this game was being played in Dallas Gameday wouldn't show up.

Both of my schools earned this. No sense in crying about the other team hogging all the attention, from either side.

not to mention the last few times we've played them...they've suffered some pretty significant beatdowns

This has been a really nice season for SMU, but this incarnation of Memphis has been pretty good for a little while.

Memphis fans are not crying.

And if this year’s game was in Dallas and all things were equal gameday would be there. But it is SMU that is the spunky team that has been bad for about 6-7 years. It is a great testament to their new coach to get the transfers to mesh and be in position to be only a 5 point underdog to a team that has owned them for a little while

Interesting. Well, when that SMU team enters the LB, they will have no idea of the size of that crowd and how loud those Memphis fans are going to be. May be kind of like SHOCK AND AWE.....I hope. Should be a larger crowd than the one at the UCF game.

Would it have been in Dallas if the game was there? I don't know. There's just not the local fan base to carry it. In Dallas, SMU falls behind a lot of other pro and college teams.
