We've got coaches in place in both of our revenue sports. You're always trying to improve your programs but barring an unexpected early departure of Fickell there aren't any major projects that need to be done in the next few months. Bohn did a great job and I wish him well; hope the next person makes the program better the way Mike has done.

Next AD's goals will be the development of a full time practice facility and generating funding for that, revamping the football locker room, and overseeing the hiring of at least a football coach and possibly others.

Exactly my feeling. The timing is never great for losing a coach or an AD, but this isn't bad timing.

Never a good time to lose a key member of the Athletic Department, especially the AD. Just need to make sure we have bring in the right replacement. Bohn has already done a great job laying the foundation. Looks to have solid coaches in place.

The next AD will need to come in and make sure they work well with the existing coaches. Will likely have to negotiate an extension for Fickell and his staff, if he doesn’t take another job this offseason, and continue to improve our facilities as needed.

Our two best ADs over the last 30 years were Bohn and Goin. Both came from "P" programs and were comfortable in the role from day 1. The jobs weren't over their heads. I'm hoping there is a candidate out there with similar qualities that can take our Athletics Programs to new heights. Doesn't have to come from a "P" program but the experience would help. The future here looks good thought and Bohn is a big reason for that.

Maybe we schedule home and homes in all major sports with USC now. 04-cheers

Maybe we could volunteer to be one of those opening week "neutral" games at the new NFL stadium like the GA dome does every year for SEC teams. I'd be up for another LA trip.

Not good. Not good, at all.

Bohn was as undervalued as his salary.

Best of luck to Mike Bohn. He did a great job and will be missed, but we will be a very desirable landing spot for an AD. Next man in.

Sums it up pretty well in my mind. Any hiring at the senior level requires an extensive search and thorough interviewing and reference checking. With that said, there are scores of capable rising athletic administrators who can continue the good work and take us the next step on the journey.

Bohn is leaving the UC program in much better shape than when he arrived. And once again, we're losing a key leader to a storied P5 program @ USC. If he were leaving for Rutgers or some other low to mid-level P5 I'd be very concerned.

Relax, it's the natural evolution of the position. 5 or 6 years is a good run.

RE: Bohn to USC?
Two things:

1. I was kidding about Urban, he's not coming here. But for chriss' sake, people, if he would take the job you hand it to him in a heartbeat. He instantly boosts the athletic department's prestige from the moment he walks in the door. I mean it's a no brainer.

2. Bohn was okay. Fickell was a good hire and apparently the baseball and women's bb coach are doing well too. We don't know about Brannen yet. The AD overall is in good shape. Bohn deserves credit for that. But he has yet to do anything that makes me think he was a great director, by any means, and I'm not too concerned with his departure.

If we throw in a basketball series, maybe they'd do a 2-for-1 in football? They usually don't do away football games because they only have 3 OOC games available and one is a permanent home-and-home with Notre Dame. But they did a 2-for-1 with BYU.

It's gotta be tough for them to get good home basketball games. This coming year, their best OOC home opponent is probably FGCU.

Bolded, I agree. The A.D. job today is so complex and specialized it's no longer the pasture land for retired football coaches but Urban may be a unique case. If he's truly gained administrative experience and has interest it's worth exploring.

He's an alum with some deep UC family ties and a son on the baseball team. He could be a thought leader among his peers nationally and would certainly send a strong signal to P5 conferences that UC intends to compete at the highest level. But there is certainly compliance baggage too and that alone might be a knockout.

RE: Bohn to USC?
What compliance issues? He's already cleared as an assistant AD for OSU.

Again, it's not happening. But there's enough there to at least give him a call. Everyone thinks Urban is gonna return to coaching but I just don't get why he'd leave his dream job at OSU to go out to Southern California a year later. He's already close to family. Maybe he wants a new challenge and to be even closer. How many of you guys would take a job like that if it meant getting to watch all of your son's college games?

Don't forget stealing Xavier's baseball coach and getting UC to the post season for the first time since the 70's. He has had a good run.

Bearcat Journal name dropped the Sweater Vest on Twitter.

Also, gonna leave the name Tom Jurich here as well just to stir up all the guys who wanted to hire Pitino.
