Wiseman Eligibility
I know it was discussed by the sportswriter but has anyone in the know heard if this has any legs? I guess if he's out there the 5th the point is moot but it's starting to worry me.

If he's not out there against Oregon then it's time to start worrying.

His ankle had an impermissible contact with another player so the ankle will have to sit out a couple of games.

RE: Wiseman Eligibility
If we go without Wiseman at Oregon, it'll be very tough, but, I think the other players are talented enough to give Memphis a chance to win.

Remember, Coach Penny took last year's rag tag team, where no one thought they'd go anywhere, and, they ended in the NIT. Coach Penny will adapt, if Wiseman is not in a game.

RE: Wiseman Eligibility
All indications are he is being careful with a sprained ankle. We can start worrying next Tuesday night. Let's have a great Saturday and then we can start this back up again.

RE: Wiseman Eligibility
Parrish just stated on the radio that he went to the University of Memphis around 8pm last night and "asked in a very formal way" if James Wiseman was cleared to play his freshman season. He says he was told "I'll get an answer and get back to you." and hasn't heard from them as of 4:25pm today.

He claims he's only presenting this as fact and in no way knows one way or the other. But he claims that if Wiseman is healthy and eligible, its strange that he has not played in an exhibition game or the preseason trip to the Bahamas. TIFWIW

Didn't Wiseman have like a 4.0 gpa in highschool and speak Japanese. I don't think eligibility is an issue.

I don't think it is his academic eligibility that is being referred to, it is his status as an amateur.

In the end, I don't think there is reason to worry. I was just relaying what I heard on the GP show today.

Why won't the University put the rumors to rest then?

I agree with this. If he asked them straight out if he were eligible and they didnt answer, there is something happening. If there were no problems, he would be 100% eligible right now.

Why didn't they say Timberlake wouldn't be at Memphis madness last year? Not sure who he asked. Maybe it was one of the people that scan tickets at the liberty bowl.

RE: Wiseman Eligibility
I met Wiseman in the Bahamas. He’s got all the qualities to be a huge NBA/marketing star. Polite, charismatic, etc. Can’t wait to see him play this year.,,

ESPN probably got that same response when they asked where they could set everything up for College Game Day.

Parrish is an idiot. He was hurt in the Bahamas and not 100% now. He traveled with the team. Why play him in two meaningless games and risk further injury. This guy has millions on the line so why be stupid?

The something like "of course he is eligible" clears it all up...

If someone were to ask if ALo were eligible do you think they would say let me get back to you?

Agree...it’s a simple yes or no question: is Wiseman eligible to play? This should be easier to answer than the University is showing it to be.

It would be nice for someone from the university to put it to rest.

So Penny is lying when he said last night that it depends on Wiseman and the doctor on whether or not he plays in the season opener?
