Though we're a small school, we do have relatively deep-pocketed alumni. Also, in relation to the rest of C-USA, our market could help us here... I'd have to think the endorsement opportunities would be better in Houston than Huntington or Ruston.

I think the key for Rice is not school size, but small fan base size. Don’t see many endorsement deals for athletes that those outside that small fan don’t know.

The NBA rule that leads to one-and-dones is probably going away (making high school seniors draft eligible again) in the next couple years anyway. Not sure it has that much effect.

I sure hope so.

Basically any change that take power and money away from football/basketball factories and gives it to the players benefit A. the players (great!) and B. Rice (great!)

Cam Newton's brother Syvelle tweeted out that 4 and 5 star players should transfer to Rice. I don't think he quite gets our fan base, but I do think certain college stars (maybe current juniors Nicole Lennon and Nancy Mulkey) have a chance to carve out a little niche for themselves in popular youth sports. Maybe younger sports fans in town might be sporting a Lennon VB jersey or Mulkey BB jersey in the future? Anthony Rendon representing Rice so well in the World Series can't hurt either. Here's his tweet.

"The NCAA better close the portal ASAP transferring almost impossible. All you 5 star ️ 4 ️ players better start looking at schools that has the best fan base. I would go be a superstar at Rice University before I sit on a bench! It’s over for Bama and Clemson."
