AHC - American Heroes Channel
I've recently discovered this channel and it's fascinating. I'm watching a show on the Battle of Mortain right now. I thought I was as informed about WWII as any other casual history buff but had never heard of that battle. 450 National Guardsmen from TN and KY in a unit called Old Hickory held off 12,000 German infantry and 150ish tanks in what they're calling the pivotal battle in the war in France and the entire war in Europe. 150 of them were atop Hill 314 calling down artillery and airstrikes on advancing German columns while the rest battled to keep the town. The story is just remarkable.

I watched a show on the battle for Okinawa last week that was equally as fascinating.

I thought this would be like H&I-Heroes and Icons (although they have changed their label-still H&I).
A lot of Star Trek and Police shows and westerns.

I always thought it was interesting that two of the biggest American icons and heroes-William Shatner as Captain Kirk and Lorne Greene as Ben Cartwright--were both Canadian.

It's a good channel. I particularly like their air combat programs on aces. If you can catch the one on Robin Olds its well worth the watch. He was a fascinating man in addition to being an ace.

Did not know that. I guess there are some good things out of Canada.
