MyBB College Basketball Coaching Salary and Buyout Database for 2019-20 Season
Via public records requests, Stadium has acquired copies of contracts for more than 100 college basketball coaches from across the country for the 2019-20 season, and compiled a list of the total compensation and buyouts for those coaches.

Some coaches’ contracts are unavailable for private institutions or inaccessible due to state records laws, so this isn’t a complete list of every coach. We have also provided the contract information for a few notable coaches like Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski and Virginia’s Tony Bennett, whose contracts are either off limits from public records requests or for whom Stadium is still awaiting a response. Their contract details come from media reports and are noted below.

We’re in the process of adding the contract details for more coaches, so if you don’t see your coach on this list, check back again soon.

Coaches are listed in descending order of their total compensation for the 2019-20 season.

WAC Notables (at this time):

81. Billy Donlon – UMKC

Buyout if Coach Terminates Contract: 80% of remaining $2,100,000.24 (includes 2019-20 compensation)
Contract Term Ends: March 31, 2025

That’s the price you have to pay for a guy whose never been to the NCAA or NIT, or won a conference championship!!!

$350000.04 divided by 12 is $29,166.67 per month.

Not to be out-done, Mid-Major Madness jumped in on the college coaches contract wave with their own Mid-Major Madness Coaching Contract Database. It looks like they may have gotten one or two additional contracts. The MMM list isn't as detailed as the one from Stadium, but still gives us the general idea. The only contracts missing at this point are from the private school coaches (i.e. CBU, Seattle U, & GCU).

Jans' contract info is outdated and incomplete. The November 1st retention bonus increased to $216k. And he has many more bonus opportunities beyond the one's that are listed.

I'm not totally shocked that Mid-Major Madness' information is incorrect/out-of-date, tbh.

Interesting that Madsen only signed a 3 yr deal. That seems to be very uncommon in the college ranks. Respect to KC for paying to get their guy. You'd have to assume they're paying for Kareem's buyout as well. That seems pricey for only having 1,000 people a game.

I'm guess UMKC is hoping to make a big splash in the Summit upon its return. They are banking on Donlon to make that happen. As for Madsen, he is unproven. UVU doesn't want to commit too much time to his NCAA coaching baptism if he is not the right guy for the job.
