And completely predictable. We lost too much talent to graduation.

Which is odd, considering how many seniors we have. Next year could be even worse than this.

Look at the Ball St coach, where they were just recently, look at the C Mich coach, 1-11 last season and then one year later challenging for the MAC west, and pay attention to BGSU and there coach!!!!!!! They all 3 can recruit, and run a D1 program! This is his 6th year, and his best record is 7-6!!!!!!!! We'll never win the MAC with him! I want to win as bad as anyone, but he's a Rob Murphy football coach!
I'll disagree for this one. His teams have always had sub-average talent in general. It's impressive that he's actually over achieved with them. If he can continue to make improvements in the recruiting department then it's still possible that they could exceed 7 wins at some point.
How many years do you allow a .500 record, and consider it a good year? Look at Mike Neu at Ball St, and what he has done compared to Creighton! Ball St might win 8 or 9 games this year! Look at C Mich in one season! I love what coach Creighton stands for as a man, but he simply can't recruit! We're currently 8th out of 12, last year 10th out 12!

BSU and CMU have better FB histories than us.

CMU hired a fmr P5 HC at twice Cc's salary.
You can't make excuses, I'm sorry Ball St was 1-11 two years ago, and last year so C Mich, and BGSU is up and coming, why coaches, recruiting, and the way they manage the game! Buffalo lost their whole team basically last season, and they'll be 5-4 after today!

Early in the season Creighton said he was excited about the growth in both lines. Haven't seen it.

Well, at least this game ought to make our negative base happy. I guess we don’t also have to worry about Bowl Projections any more either unless we can find a way to win all 3 from here on out, which amazingly could still happen considering the schedule.. I’ll admit I didn’t expect Buffalo to look as good as they do here today. They know their identity and executed it well.

I guess those who said our season was over after the Ball State game might have been right. I do have to laugh though as my expectations now with this program is a Bowl Game or the season isn’t a success. Just several years ago, this team getting to 5-7, 6-6 would be celebration worthy. Now it feels like a failure. This year having been blown out twice in conference is very concerning.

Zero positive from this game. Nothing.

Do we fire Creighton or do we concede that the ceiling for EMU football is "not a national embarrassment?"

As far as the OL and DL from 2018:

We lost 3 starters on OL and 3 on DL and both LBs.

Graduation happens every year. The problem is that the new guys in those positions are not nearly as good. Good Juco players should look at emu as a place where they can start immediately.

I literally almost word for word was thinking the exact same thought! We as bad as we have looked the last 4 weeks on defense have a chance to finish 7-5! All 3 of our next opponents have losing records! 2 of 3 are on the road! I would consider playing some of the redshirt freshman these next 3 games! I love EMU, just sooooo frustrated about how poor we've looked lately on defense! Did we get 1 1st down running the ball today? Losing players is a part of the game, and having pieces in place is the coaches job!!!!!! The pieces obviously aren't there this year on the DL, or LB!!!!!!!

Are we concerned about the football program yet?

No. See my new thread.

UB kicked our butts royally today, but they are a similar team to us. They are 5 - 4 and we 4 - 5.

They beat a FCS team (Robert Morris) and Temple. We beat CCSU and Illinois.

UB has three other FBS wins and us two...

I've always like systems like the Sagarins because it encompassed the entire season NOT JUST the last game or two.

Two evenly matched teams played today and one played exceedingly well and the other exceedingly poorly. Nothing more or nothing less.

Buffalo is decidedly better in the run game both on offense and defense. That is where this game was decided and it wasn't close. EMU may be the worst in the MAC at rush defense and offense.

We know that Creighton is willing to change coordinators. Not saying that Keen needs to go but I'm not impressed with schemes. This team lacks nastiness on offense.

Defensively it's all about talent, or lack thereof. The defensive front seven looks weak. We've got a lot of big bodies but it looks like many of them are big in the belly. Looks like they lack strength and quickness.

Better hit the recruiting trail! An interesting note about EMU and Juco recruiting.......a bunch of our DL, DE and LB snaps are going to Juco guys. Obviously missed on most of them as we watch how poorly the front 7 is performing. Just terrible.

Games are won in the trenches. Always have been, always will be.

Once again, ETough nails it.

What do Crosby, Harris, Rachwal and Pickett have in common?

Our best 2018 front six defenders were all EMU high school recruits.

P.S. our best DBs were mostly high school recruits, too.

On offense, we have recruited well at QB (Glass) and WR (many) from the JUCO ranks.

RE: 11/2 Buffalo game on ESPNU at noon
Dear Friends,
At the game today. Eastern played worse against Buffalo then they did against Central. We looked totally unprepared, the tackling and pass coverage was abysmal, when you consider that this was supposed to be a strength.
When there is no pressure from the front four, (and that has been all season) why aren't we blitzing? It seems like Neathery waits until the second half before blitzing.
The game was lost, but why not go for an onside kick with a minute and a half to go. Maybe get another score. That goes along with the play calling. No reverses, no screen passes, the double pass once.
I could go on, but why. This team is terrible.

That's my biggest concern, we don't win many recruiting battles against other MAC schools! Finishing basically every year 8th, or 9th, or 10th in recruiting puts you already behind other MAC teams! Then you add in CC deliberate non aggressive game management, you're starting to see the results! Buffalo was A pick em game, and we looked like D2 school today! Neatherly looked great with A NFL stud for 2 years, who made our entire team look better! How good is he with average talent?

EMU is trying to build a solid FB program with a good HC, very good facilities, etc.

For whatever we're not a worst to first type program.

RE: 11/2 Buffalo game on ESPNU at noon
well i guess CC is tired of losing 1 score games eh?

all joking aside - i was at the game for 2 and a half quarters and let me tell you that defense was the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked. the ron english defense is alive and well in ypsilanti. when teams run on you on third and long and they get the first down? that's embarrassing. this season can't end soon enough. i hate to say it but keen feels in over his head as a play caller - i'd hire him as a HC tomorrow if i were a Div 2 school though.

cc being a 5-7 to 7-5 coach year in an year out? i'll take it. as long as we never bottom out for an extended period of time again - i'll be content. but i may reconsider renewing my season tickets - to be honest.
