luckyflash, a redshirt is permitted to dress. The can do everything except play in a game or scrimmage. King and Nalls played against Hiram. Williamson played against Towson. Of course, I don't know about the scrimmages. So, it appears the only players eligible for a non-medical redshirt are Hernandez and Nuga, and Nuga is required to redshirt. The fact that Hernandez didn't dress leads me to believe that there is something else going on, such as an injury.

It will be interesting to see how he fits once ready. This team is deep and I like the fact we are not reliant on 1 person to score.

CJ has another problem. He doesn't play a lick of defense.

I would not call this team deep, by any means. Yes, the perimeter has a lot of bodies. But so far there are only two inside players of note in Whittington and Pippen. One is foul prone, and one is playing over 30-minutes a game on ??? knees.

After that, good luck.

I like Bainbridge, but he is a huge dropoff after the first two. Bennett is a clear project and the two players (Beck, AC) most - including me - thought would put Kent over the top have shown absolutely nothing. AC doesn't play at all, and while Beck plays a few minutes, he has yet to do anything that says he'd be anything more than a liability if forced into meaningful time.

If Bainbridge (12-18 minutes) and Bennett (8-10 minutes) aren't getting more meaningful minutes - and producing - by January then I would be very worried about Kent's MAC chances over the long haul.

The Flashes normally tighten up the rotation when the MAC season starts - One noticeable thing from the Fort Wayne game was that they only played 9 guys. It looks like that's what the rotation would look like once MAC season starts. Whittington, Pippen, Simons, Booman, and Peterson starting, with Roberts playing a lot of minutes off the bench. Santiago and Beck rotating in. Bainbridge added in only as needed.

The game with An Ohio State University is going to be interesting - I'd guess it's going to be closer than expected. If it's not a blowout, we should see just the key performers. But if the Buckeyes wear us down, you might see us needing the bottom of the bench.

Ohio State is really good. I am not into "moral" victories, but if we keep it close I will be pleased. Hell, if it's close, let's go ahead and win the damn thing. That said, it could get ugly pretty quickly. Just depends on who shows up.

I know I just spewed something not at all that insightful. Just saying OSU is really good.

Excellent points, Cleveland, about the inside depth. They really need some people to step up. At this point, Bainbridge is the most likely candidate.

Yes he inside depth is my biggest concern too. I'm a little more optimistic on Beck though. I believe he was a late summer addition so probably had less time to fit in. Castillo not being able to contribute is disappointing. I expected him to be a defensive factor. When he got in today he quickly picked up two fouls on the perimeter. Makes me think he plays aggressive defense but the D1 game is a little too fast for him right now. Honestly, the season really hinges on Whittington and Pippen staying healthy and staying out of foul trouble though.

And I don't want to think about the scenario where Pippen leaves this off season.
