Gotta be your starter going forward. He looked great. Yeah, wmu's defense is ass, but Hutchinson made some clutch throws.

Great win!

A Chippewa.......and the guy batting 0/100 on his 'predictions', especially related to QB's, says Hutchinson is now the guy!

Expect Glass the starter again as long as he's healthy.

Great game by Hutchinson, good sign for the EMU QB position for the next couple years.

RE: Hutchinson
The big advantage that Hutch had was that the league hadn't really seen him before (except getting killed in the Central game).

Quite frankly we had not seen him either. He showed a greater ability to move, etc. than I thought he could.

His passing abilities are NO surprise. He even had a great tape in high school as did Glass in JUCO. (it is fun to see them throw the ball say 40 or 50 yard strike).
Lot of discussion public and private about his throwing abilities.

I feel 100% better about 2020 that I did 48 hours ago.

All of this said, remember it was ONE GAME. Here forward every MAC opponent will have seen the WMU game tape. They will defend him. WMU didn't stop him. Think we had what one punt, at the end of the game?

And just think how many folks here wanted Keen fired and he also happens to be the quarterback coach and has been for several years

Again why not Glass and Hutchison since we did Hutchison and Grissom?

I did? Sure it wasn't someone else?

There were others who wanted to give up on Tyler after a loss or two.

I can only assume you're referring to Shane Morris, which I owned.

Game predictions? Cashing winning tickets left and right, chief. It's what I do.

Thanks.

Don't think anybody gave up on Tyler. It was quite obvious to everyone (except Bob), that Glass was the better overall player soon after they both had the chance to play.

Can't say enough about what Hutchinson did, with few game reps, to show up and execute almost flawlessly, with accuracy. Did Keen just magically change his play calling, and the run game all of a sudden get fixed, and a superstar QB just show up out of nowhere?.................or was the Bronco defense and DC just that horrible?

This week will likely answer those questions.

EVERYBODY wanted Tyler to succeed, he was a local boy but Mike was clearly better.

Like Tough I am in full salute mode on Hutchinson, it was a remarkable performance to say the least.

Against WMU, however, we ran the ball effectively and that cannot be attributed to Hutchinson. He was throwing sideline flares for most of the game, hardly opening up running lanes. Did the "wildcat" usage of Grissom and the jet sweeps cause the WMU lineman to pause penetration? A great game, hopefully we learned something.

I am still a Glass supporter, he has been a terrific performer and if healthy he needs to start. That being said, I no longer gasp when I see him take a big hit.

RE: Hutchinson

I really hope CC decides to use both QB's. CC has consistently said throughout the past few years that he cannot remember a time where only 1 qb was used throughout a season. The bottom line is, both QB's are really good and playing both will help us keep defenses guessing, gives Preston more experience heading into the next 2 years and keeps a healthy competition at the QB position. Don't give me the argument that it won't help either qb keep a rhythm..... Glass did this last year and Preston doesn't know any better in his first year playing. Great job by both QB's, the line for keeping Preston clean and a VERY good group of WR's. Interesting how we, myself included, thought the secondary was going to be the showcase group and quickly its turned to the WR's with Beydoun, Quian, Latu, Sexton and Arthur.

Hutchinson so clearly surpassed anything that Glass has ever done. I can’t imagine not giving Hutch the extended opportunity.

I realize it's only 1 game, but has any QB ever in Eastern Michigan football history ever had a better game statistically?
31/36 357 yds 3 Tds, and ZERO turnovers! I love Glass, but Glass wouldn't have duplicated that! Every game he throws a couple interceptions by overthrowing or forcing the ball...…, but Glass should probably start......

.......by that logic Vann is obviously better that Mackey and he was the sole reason the running game suddenly appeared. Those rushing 'stats' had nothing to do with the fact that the defense we just played was absolute garbage. Played 10 yards off all of our receivers for the entire game so our QB could throw those simple out routes over and over and over and over. Again, credit Hutch for taking advantage of the weakness and throwing accurate balls, but let's not just get fooled by 1 great stat line.

Hey, if Glass starts the next game and throws an early pick, and looks out of sorts at all, by all means get Hutch in there. Knowing Creighton, there is no way he is just going to bench a good Senior QB after a minor injury, if he is ready to come back after 1 game.

Spot on. Hutch earned the opportunity. I don't know what his passing rating was but it has to be close to perfect. It is a no brainer. Glass will be ready to go in case Hutch falters. There is no downside.

Recap: The guy posted a perfect QB rating and had the best QB performance in over 100 years of EMU football, his predecessor is careless with the ball and throws foolish picks (*including the bowl game loss) but he should go back to the bench. Um...huh?

Glass had 4 TDs in one half against Toledo last year. It was a bummer he got hurt in that game, or else we probably would’ve blown Toledo out, instead of them coming back and nearly beating Wiegers.

Not to mention Glass throwing for 316 yards and 3 TDs (with no TOs) this year against a Big Ten team. I was impressed by Hutchinson’s performance as well, but let’s pump the breaks on him clearly surpassing Glass.

EDIT: sorry, only two TDs against Toledo. Felt like more. He had 100 yards passing, and 128 yards rushing in one half. Still very impressive.

RE: Hutchinson
Good conversation but one game is one data point. And one data point doesn't make a trend. If Hutch plays most of another game or two this season and completes 2/3s of his passes I'll jump on the bandwagon.

The WMU D, as E'Tough noted, was unexplainable. I don't know why they were giving Hutchinson all the short stuff. And that made it much, much easier for the run game to find creases to run through.

Reminds me of a basketball team making a ton of threes and opening the inside up for the slashers to go to the hoop.

What I like is that future opponents have to be able defend Glass, Hutchinson and Grissom.

Especially after the first few drives, when it became evident that that was our game plan. WMU did a horrendous job adjusting.

Having an effective run game helped as well. It’s easier to convert 3rd and 2’s instead of 3rd and 9’s.

I’m not trying to take anything away from Hutchinson, who was fantastic in his first career start, winning a game that most, if not all of us expected to be a loss. But if Glass is healthy, he needs to be in the game. Toledo’s defense might be worse than Western’s, so if he isn’t ready, then I’m totally fine putting Hutchinson back out there and not rushing Glass back.
