NCAA grants AAC waiver request for championship game in 2020
Reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer. After UConn leaves in 2020 the AAC will go divisionless and the top two teams will play each other in the championship game to determine the conference Championship for NY6 bowl game purposes. Earlier there was a report that there waiver request would be 2 years and the AAC would figure out what to do after that. Probably add a program in 2022

So was the earlier report accurate (2 yrs) ? Or is it a permanent waiver?

Its for 2 years only. I doubt we drop a team to get to 10 so I suspect after the two years we will add one. Probably need to start working on that right now lol.

Probably already a done deal. Based upon BYU scheduling UCF, it might be BYU. Based upon AF coach 's comments it might be AF. Either likely means a BB add too.

I doubt it's BYU. although their ESPN contract was supposed to be announced in June or July it still hasn't been -- I think their fans are a little bit too much like UConn's. Theydy be a pain in the ass even if they wanted to come.

I don't like any addition short of Wichita materializing a football program out of thin air.

Not saying it will or should happen, but I could see Western Kentucky being the replacement due to location (for travel) and past success in football and basketball.

Football, sure. They cannot seriously be considered for full membership.

I don't like non-full members in conferences.
