Really ugly scenes in New York regarding Zach Greinke.

While one fan was ejected, that left dozens if not hundreds of fans that were getting way to personal with insults towards Greinke.

This is not the first time actions like this have happened in NY, or other cities.

While it doesn't rise to the level of European soccer, shouldn't the Yankees in this instance be held more accountable for failing to control the animals?

IIRC, the Utah Jazz banned two fans from their arena last season for shouting racist taunts at opposing players, and the Red Sox banned a fan from Fenway Park.

That's probably just the tip of the iceberg, though. And enforcing a ban on a single person is difficult given that every stadium and arena has multiple entrances, and security is much more focused on checking bags and clothing for banned items than looking to recognize the face of one banned fan. A team can stop someone from buying a ticket in his own name, but can't stop anyone from buying on the secondary market, or otherwise attending with tickets purchased by someone else, or paying cash at the ticket window (unless the ticket seller recognizes the banned fan).

Also, spoiled American fans and their enablers on sports talk radio and TV would gin up a lot of outrage at some of the measures taken in European soccer. Imagine what NYC talk radio would be like if MLB made the Yankees play a home game in an empty stadium as punishment for fan behavior.

At the very minimum, beefed up security in areas were fan/player interaction are higher (like bullpen area in many stadiums) should be a minimum step, as well as aggressive action towards fans that violate code of conducts

Teams need to be responsible, in the last 5 years, on 2 different occasions, fans were murdered in Dodger Stadium parking lot.

This is absurd. In what way can a team be responsible for the criminal behavior of its fans?

There was zero security, also it kind of disincentives fans from attending.

I stopped going to night games in Oakland due to the area, though the A’s did have a few people out, but Oakland at night is pretty creepy.
