Campus News: Smoking ban passed for most of UAB and the Southside
The City of Birmingham has approved a massive no-smoking zone encompassing most of the Southside and the UAB campus.

The ban goes into effect on December 1st and prohibits smoking in “all outdoor public rights-of-way, sidewalks, streets, curbs and gutters, alleys, bus stop areas and parks within the Health District.” Smoking will be allowed only in small zones designated on private property (less than 200 sq ft.)

The ordinance does not affect smoking within moving vehicles and private residences.

Good. Smoking should be banned in all public places.

Does this include vaping? If so, there's going to be a lot of man-bun wearing hipster millennials highly upset.

They forgot to include vaping, peeing on the ground, murdering someone, running traffic lights, speeding, using plastic straws, etc. Time for our elected to get back to work.

The article stated that both this ordinance and the previous smoking ordinance did not address vaping, but that they would be discussing amending to include vaping to both shortly.

When I started at UAB you could smoke in class if your professor was cool with it
