Still number 1 in the South region. Most in all regions have a tie. Some several.

Why are the region rankings based more on conference affiliation and not the actual geographic region?

Because at the D2 and D3 levels, they use these rankings to pick the teams that get at-large bids to the NCAAs and each conference is mapped to a region in the bracket.
