Got 2 weeks to get ready.
They have about a month to get ready. I know the first regular season game is November 5, but if they need Wiseman and Ellis to beat S Carolina St and Illinois Chicago then we are in more trouble than we all realize.
We need them 100% by Nov. 12.
Penny wants them healthy soon so he can figure out his rotations and starters.
Of course Penny wants them healthy soon what coach wouldn't. With that said.
Wiseman is starting Penny knows that, I know that, you know that, heck the whole country knows that.
Boogie is also starting.
Both of those guys need to be 100% by Nov 12. If that means them missing the first two games then so be it.
Boogie is in a battle for starting position. I think he starts, but would not be shocked if they start - Damian, Lester, DJ, Precious, James.
I don't think there is a question that Boogie will start I think the rotation is set at Baugh, Boogie, Precious and Wiseman and the battle is between LQ and DJ.

Even if DJ is one of our best 5 I just don't see Penny trotting a team out there with only 1 shooter on the floor.
Our best team should have 2 shooters on the floor at all times.

We have at least 3 really good 3-pt shooters, Boogie, LQ and Harris. DJ and Precious are decent enough to keep defenses honest. Wiseman will step out for some threes too, actually he has a decent stroke. Maurice and Lance also seem to be pretty good shooters from spots. Lomax should be better this year too. If we as a team can shoot 38% or so we will go very far this year.

Nor have I. All I pointed out was that they have about a month to get ready instead of 2 weeks and that if we need them to beat S Carolina St and Illinois Chicago then yes we are in more trouble than we all realize

I don't see us as a Final Four threat unless Dandridge makes some sort of a meaningful contribution. Every team needs at least one player like him. If he is healthy by December, I can't imagine him redshirting.

What trouble do we realize we are in? None. Zero.

Dandrige isn't as college ready as Maurice or Thomas. With Wiseman and Precious already taking up a likely 60 combined minutes at the 4/5 there really isn't any meaningful room at the inn for Malcolm anyway.
Plus Jeffries can play the 4 in small-ball and the Tigers are already clogged at the 1/2.
I doubt Malcolm's 2.1 ppg and 1.5 rpg is going to keep Memphis from a FF.

Take Harris out of the "really good shooter" category. He is streaky at best, and surprisingly questionable off the catch when set

If he is more selective with his shot he will shoot better. He's got a nice stroke. He just strummed it too many times last year.

Drew says Penny made the comment recently that they might not be starting 5 freshmen after all. Or something to that effect. Not sure to whom he was referring.

He was talking about some recent injuries to Boogie and Wiseman.

There are very few teams that are going to have a big that can really cause issues when James is out...
Precious is 6'9, Lance is 6'9 and Maurice is 6'10

Measured 6' 11" without shoes during pro day so 7' 1" on gameday sounds about right

I expect Tyler to get more open looks this year because defenses will be sagging somewhat with James and Lance down low. Lots of weapons. If James draws the bigs out on him Precious will make them pay at the back door. Damien can be a rim protector too as high as he gets up. We have to keep in mind at least 7 guys on the team have not played at D-1 speed so I'm being cautiously optimistic. They will adapt though pretty quickly. GO TIGERS GO.
