Jimmie Ward and Max Scharping
Jimmie Ward had an outstanding performance today against the Rams. I've been following Jimmie since the Niners drafted him in the first round. Niner Nation is really tough on him, with all of his injuries. I'm glad to see him have a career day today. Five tackles, INT, and some stellar coverage. I just read through the Niner Blog and they are eating their words today on Jimmie. So happy for him!

Big Max looks like the man in Houston. He has been starting the last couple games and looks pretty comfortable out on the field. Kids going to have a long career.

I love seeing our Huskies succeeding in the NFL.

Ticks me off when fans are so critical of players who are oft-injured. These guys play hard and do't plan on getting hurt. A player can't be considered a failure for this unless he isn't in shape and avoids workouts.

Thx for posting!

I love to see former Huskies succeeding outside DeKALB as well.

I don’t blame him for jumping on the NFL opportunity and getting a hell of a good financial start to adulthood, but does anyone know what he would have needed to be the all time leading sack getter in NCAA history? I would love to see where he stands and if he would have broke those records had he stayed

I got ambitious and looked it up. He had 30 and needed 15 more to break NCAA record. Awesome news is NIU had 2 guys in too 20, English with 32 and Smith with 30

Where is Cary Caliendo on that list?

Sutton did get a workout with the Patriots on Oct 1. Feel really bad for him. He didn’t get good advice IMO. Could’ve become NCAA all-time sacks leader.

I don't know, after two monster seasons and graduating from NIU, I don't see how he would have gotten that much better or more NFL ready. It depends what his motivations were really. If he just wanted to play football, he could have stayed of course. But, I don't think he really improves his stock by coming back another year.

I was surprised Sutton wasn't on any of the XFL draft eligibile lists. Seems like a likely spot for him

The lists that I saw weren't nearly long enough to fill the rosters, maybe he still has a shot.

Can’t blame Sutton for leaving while on top. But with hindsight I’d say the best move would have been to return but not to NIU. Grad transfer to a school where you can learn to play ILB in a 3-4. He was never going to make it in the NFL as a DE. NIU needed him at DE so he would have been stuck there.

He has all the measurables for the ILB in a 3-4. At this point I don’t think NFL teams want to develope him. If he could have excelled at that spot in his 5th year was think that was his best shot at making the pros.

It'd be nice if the KC Chiefs would bring Sutton in.

To be honest . I don't think he made much of anything . Not a smart move on his behalf

Exactly what he should have done, good call
