Conference is wide open. Do not believe that Team X is a lock.

The West is wide open. Just win baby and see what happens.

Are there 3 losses left on Ball State’s schedule? We will need some help from the MAC East teams in that regard.

But that’s for another day. Let’s enjoy the win. Our QB’s were a combined 35/41 for 407 yards and 3 TDs (plus a running TD). Those are video game numbers. Hutchinson got some help from western’s awful defense, but he was still brilliant for the most part. Made every throw he needed to, especially in crunch time. One of the best performances by an EMU quarterback that I can remember.

Watched it on my phone at a friends Michigan game party. Hutchinson looked AMAZING. 31/36with 357 yards. Sexton had a clutch catch. Definitely deserves the number 2. Vann with almost 100 yards is a great sign too.

Regardless of the division race, no reason we can't run the table against the rest of our schedule. Let's keep the momentum and take down Toledo!

Down the stretch we need BSU to go 2-3 and CMU to go 2-2. But let's worry about what we can do and WIN OUT.

The D came alive later in the game. Nice performance for them. But need to stop the mental lapses.

Other than a great win, nothing really changed. We can win the rest......we can lose the rest.

Really nice to get THAT win against THAT team though!

Epic Applause

Awesome 2nd half for EMU. Super impressive as we needed to get to 7 wins for a bowl and the schedule was not looking favorable. We now need to finish with 3 wins in the next 5 games to get another bowl. Not sure why Glass didnt play but Preston looked AWESOME and I believe he is a redshirt Soph which bodes well for the next 2 yrs. He looked good thru the air and also displayed some good running capabilities.

Our Receiving core looked great as Arthur, Sexton, Dylan and Beydoun came up clutch.

Toledo HAS NOT looked good so far this year. No reason we should lose to them (on paper) we'll see. I feel like they might always show up for a game like this.

Q. William's actually better, 6 for 60 and a TD. Quietly having a nice year.

RE: Game Week/Day: WMU (under the lights)
The greatest win in the Creighton era, for sure.

Hutchison was very good but I think I was more impressed with the receivers tonight. They had to climb the ladder on a bunch of throws and took some hits but held on to almost every throw, except for one drop each from Beydoun and Cannon. Actually I think the receiving corps were remarkable this night. Drummond, Jackson and Sexton caught EVERYTHING they touched and Beydoun got some YAC.

Actually after I saw Glass attending the coin toss in sweats, Shaq starting and WMU gashing us on the first two drives, I was ready to leave. Shaq, however, has not run that well since his freshman year in 2015. Hutchinson was poised on his first start, our two false start penalties were with Grissom playing QB. I still love Mike Glass but I am no longer frightened if he goes down.

Frankly our defense still sucks. Our alleged premier DB got burned for a first and 35 TD throw and missed a couple of tackles. I like Neathery but I think his schematic excellence in the past three years was dependent on having defensive ends named O'Conner, Harris and of course Crosby. It appears that Kevin Magill's performance benefitted from them as well.

Nevertheless this was the most enjoyable game I have attended at EMU in this century. I did catch a lot of the Toledo-Ball St game today as well. It was a total domination type contest. I realize that the Rockets were without their QB but that did not explain how Ball St moved the ball at will and scored 52 points. Fun times in the MAC.

Sorry I missed him in my comments about the receivers, but you once again are on point.

Dear Friends,
To show how Eastern dominated the game after the first quarter, Western scored thirteen points the rest of the game, and we scored thirty-one. This is what most of us have expected from this team, a never give up attitude, fight to the last.
I'm very proud how this team played, when they could have given it up after the first quarter.

Couple of thoughts:

1). We can put those threads and posts to rest: "Who will replace Glass next year?"

2). We have a ton of receivers. Every time I looked up a different receiver caught the ball.

3). Rynearson looked real nice last night on ESPN+. The two end zones are beautiful.

4). BTW, did Hutchinson have a big advantage that Western didn't have a chance to prepare for him?

Phelps was back as well. I will add:
how long arm Glass and Grissom out?
Ryland still make FG an adventure Doing well on kickoffs
Yes both lines are not improving as hoped
Tackling as regressed compared to previous two seasons

Absolutely, in regard to #2. This is the best group of WRs we’ve had in at least 10 years. Dylan Drummond rebounded from his game-changing drop last week to have his best game in an EMU uniform. He was phenomenal, making some very difficult catches. I was worried about losing Jackson and Sexton after this season, but we will be just fine with Drummond, Williams, and Beydoun, and hopefully Grissom having a bigger role. Not sure how Beydoun didn’t get any scholarship offers. The kid can fly.

We obviously used a pretty different game plan for Hutchinson than we use for Glass. Quick, short passes to set up his nifty little pump fake for the deeper ones. We were aided by being able to run the ball, and Western using some pretty soft coverages. Teams with better defenses will give Hutchinson trouble. I didn’t think he handled pressure well, but when he had time, he was perfect.

Hopefully Glass’s injury isn’t too serious. He’s still my guy going forward. But I’m no longer worried about our team if he’s out. Kudos to Preston, and the rest of the guys, on a great win!

This reminds me of Iowa State last season. They had a perfectly good QB who went down (Kyle Kempt) and they brought in Brock Purdy and he played so well, they couldn't take him out and Iowa State really took off. Got to go with the hot hand, Preston Hutchinson moving forward. Things move quick in college football. Glass had his opportunity now it is Hutchinson's job to lose. Btw, Purdy's first start was against Oklahoma in Norman and Iowa State rolled over them, Purdy put up Hutchinson-like numbers.

We witnessed history. His performance will go down in EMU football lore. No way you take that kid out now. No way.
