Bowl Eligible schools, 2019
I assume LSU and Florida are bowl eligible.

Anyone else? We could do a running list here.

Without double checking I can say Penn State, Ohio State and SMU.

So far-
Wisconsin, Ohio St, Alabama, SMU, Clemson, Oklahoma, Baylor, Penn St, LSU, and Minnesota.

Florida isn't(they have 2 FCS wins)

What's the target this year- 78 again?

Boise on their way up big at halftime over Hawaii.

true, but they also have 4 teams with 4 or 5 losses. And all 4 of those are big underdogs next weekend.

BYU is 2-4 with Boise State on deck. The Blue Cougars are on the edge for making it to the Hawaii Bowl.

Looking at BYU’s schedule I don’t think they make it.
They play #13 ranked Boise St, @ rival Utah St and @ 5-1 San Diego St still. That’s 3 probable loses.

I actually think BYU has about a 50% chance to win 1 of those 3 games. But each game, individually, looks very tough. I guess if I were giving an over/under for BYU’s # of wins right now, I’d say 5.5. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

I suspect when all is said and done, BYU's loss to USF will keep them out of bowl season.

Could very well be the case.

I don’t know when it will happen, but at some point the powers-that-be in Deseret are going to have to sit down and take a hard, cold look at BYU’s experiment with Independence and ask themselves if this is really a good idea, or not. They went 10-3 the first year (2011) and are a combined 55-42 since then. Who knows, maybe that performance-level is all they really want or need from their football program.

I don't know about the dollars, but in a "national presence" sense, BYU has clearly been diminished over the past 10 years. For decades, from the 1980s - 2000s, BYU was clearly regarded as a "power level" program and respected as such by almost everyone. And they had a brand name to match.

BYU still has some of that, but Boise has almost taken their place in that regard. I'm not sure what the answer is, but they are withering on the vine, not just in terms of winning, but where it matters most, as a brand.

Their brand is withering since they went Indy.

If they rejoined they MWC they’d have those magical seasons they had for 30 years in the WAC. This traveling all over the country to play @Toledo @USF and @UMASS has to be exhausting the players. They wouldn’t dominate the AAC at all but they’d be a hard #2 in the MWC after Boise.

I think so too. But pride is a big factor in college athletics, it's formidable.

I would agree 100% that Boise today is pretty much BYU from the 80's/90's. The only place they're different is they lost their Lavell Edwards, while BYU was able to keep him.

They've really got it rolling under Harsin now too. 37-9 the last 3.5 seasons with 3 MWC titles.
