As for Southern Miss, UNT's defense has not looked the same this year, but as for Troy, they have a great rush defense, like last year, but not a great Pass Defense. MSST & Alabama both had decent to great pass defenses, and your offense was humbled. ULoL played better vs MSST than you because of "home" game, but also because MSST plays the pass better than the run.
As for us, our pass defense is better than the run defense (FIU had ~100 pass yds in the last 10 minutes trying to come back with us in prevent). It'll be interesting to see our strength vs your strength. Our rush offense has turned the corner and yours rush defense is good (less than 120yds/game), so that'll be strength vs strength. Your run offense is below average, as is our run defense. Weak vs Weak. Your pass defense has underperformed, while ours is decent to good (2nd in conference). Strength vs average.
Plus, you guys allow and obtain 52% of your points in the Red Zone (both O and D, weird, right?), while we score 60% of O in RZ, and allow 72% of total points in RZ. Thus you guys live and die more by the big plays.
Some cool Red Zone Stats:
RZ Offense:
#1 FAU (#7 Nation)
#2 SoMiss (#16 Nation), 94.4% scoring, 18 Attempts, 17 scores, 11 TDs (5R, 6P), 6 FGs, 61.1% TDs/RZAttempt
#5 Tech (#26 Nation), 91.3% scoring, 23 Attempts, 21 scores, 15 TDs (7R, 8P), 6 FGs, 65.2% TDs/RZAttempt
RZ Defense:
#1 Tech (#6 Nation), 59.3% scoring, 27 attempts, 16 scores, 13 TDs (9R, 4P), 3 FGs, 48.1% TDs/RZAttempt
#2 FAU (#12 Nation), 68.4%
#10 SoMiss (#105 Nation), 88.2% scoring, 17 attempts, 15 scores, 12 TDs (6P, 6R), 3 FGs, 80% TDs/RZAttempt

Now if you will just break down the rankings of the teams you have played and we have played and the teams they have played you might have something here. Otherwise this is just an exercise in mental masturbation.
My guess is LaRuston will be really up for this one. Your seniors haven’t beaten us and they damn well know it. Jack is a better QB than the one you kept and he’s got another year left. Ohhh this is gonna be a good one all right. But the RZ D and the RZ O against UMass and Grambling ain’t gonna mean chit.
Here’s to you guys taking your loss like men and not like the Side Show ladies from somewhere in Texas.
Sure, taking out the FCS Schools, and Comparing opponents since Watkins' return, the Massey Composite has SoMiss's Opponents as (L to #53 MSST before the return):
#2 Alabama L @
#101 Troy 5pt W @
#104 UNT 18pt W home
#128 UTEP 18pt W home
Your most impressive win is 2-4 Troy. Troy has beaten #129 Akron + FCS. UTEP has beaten FCS. UNT has beaten #121 UTSA + FCS. So no one you've beaten has been impressive, nor have they beaten anyone impressive.
As for us, we've lost @#15 Texas, but picked up wins over:
#92 FIU 12pt W home
#117 BGSU 28pt W @
#120 Rice 3pt W @
#130 UMass 48pt W home
Our most impressive win is 3-3 FIU. FIU has wins over #116 Charlotte, #130 UMass, + FCS. BGSU has wins over #76 Toledo + FCS. Rice has no wins. UMass has a win over #129 Akron.
Our opponents that we've beaten have played and won games against better opponents (your best is UNTs win over #121 UTSA, while BGSU beat #76 Toledo [4-2], while FIU beat #116 Charlotte). We've also beaten a team with the better record (FIU 3-3 vs Troy & UNT @ 2-4). Also, Troy's best win was also beaten by UMass (Akron).
I'll say this though, in conference, while you've played two home games and we've played a road and home game, you've beaten your opponents more decisively (18pt average vs 7.5pt average for us).
Should be a great game, and I wish SoMiss finishes the year ranked at 10-3 with a bowl win over Ole Miss and a loss to us
