I thought when we played the LB vs Iowa St, it was a one time invite?

Weird, if so. What do they average, 2000? How many of those fans are likely to skip the LB game to go to a Hustle game?

If the LB is worried about UofM schedules, then they should contract with the AAC to put us in the LB on an annual basis.

Is that game largely inconsequential to the Liberty Bowl? Sure.

But those who plan the game would be largely remiss if they don't take every last local factor into account.

The interview I heard at the time re: the contract didn’t say one off, but it did contain language stating no more than a certain number within the contract cycle. Sorry, I cant remember if it was Ehrhart or a school admin. talking, but either way the specified number was not given just the general outline. Next year begins the new cycle so I’m not sure which terms carry over or if any changes were made.

Since it’s only happened once...ever, and it takes the combination of us being good but not good enough for a NYD bowl, and requires the the cooperation of one of two leagues not being able to cover their bowl obligations or some significant contract negotiations to swap bowls with bump money applied...if they want us after that we play in the Liberty.

Losing to temple might be a hint

They're probably worried that the SEC won't have enough bowl-eligible teams.

Utk may have salvaged a chance at a Bowl with their win. Now 2-4, with Alabama soon. So likely a 5th loss. So in the rest of their games they must go 4-1. They may only win another game or two but if they get 6, wouldn’t this be the year they want to play Memphis in a bowl?

A rare year when THEY have nothing to lose and would love to knock off a 10-2 or even 12-1 full of ourselves Memphis team?

Of course we could put the dagger in by rolling them

Memphis vs Louisville in the Independence Bowl could be fun...don't we have a back-up with them? I'd love to spend Christmas at the casinos with some Tiger football to cap it all off.
