RE: Realistic AAC bowl teams
It's surprising that some think only 6 AAC teams will play in bowl games.

SMU 6-0 probably ends with 9+ wins
Memphis 5-1 probably ends with 8+ wins
Tulane 5-1 probably ends with 8+ wins
Temple 5-1 probably ends with 8+ wins
Cincy 5-1 probably ends with 8+ wins
UCF 4-2 probably ends with 7+ wins
Navy 4-1 probably ends with 7+ wins

That makes 7 almost certainly bowl eligible teams, with 6 games to go.

SMU already eligible, 4 teams need 1 win, UCF & Navy need 2 wins.

Also, there are teams like USF with 3 wins (USF coming off a win vs BYU) that could become bowl eligible.

One other point - I believe that the Sun Belt sent 8 teams to bowl games last season. If that's true, the AAC could be able to match that number.

03-no03-no03-no03-no03-no

Sun Belt had 5 bowlers (out of 10 teams) last year:

Orlando: Tulane 41, UL-Lafayette 24
Montgomery: Georgia Southern 23, Eastern Michigan 21
New Orleans: Appalachian State 45, Middle Tennessee 13
Mobile: Troy 42, Buffalo 32
Tucson: Nevada 16, Arkansas State 13

RE: Realistic AAC bowl teams
I honestly thought Tulsa and Memphis would win yesterday. Of course that didn’t happen, and I think the odds are now almost overwhelming that AAC will have 7 bowl teams:

SMU: 6-0. Bowl-eligible right now.

Unless they totally fall apart, will reach 6 wins:
Cincinnati: 5-1
Memphis: 5-1
Tulane: 5-1
Temple: 5-1
Navy: 4-1
UCF: 4-2

Possible but very steep climb:
Tulsa: 2-4
Houston: 2-4
South Florida: 3-3. Schedule gets very tough now.
East Carolina: 3-3 but only 1 FBS win so far.

No chance
UConn: 1-5. No comment.

RE: Realistic AAC bowl teams
And by the way: BYU may or may not be the AAC-opponent in the Hawaii Bowl. Thanks to South Florida (heh heh) the Blue Cougars are now 2-4. Three more games in the easy-to-automatic-W range will get them to 5 wins. But after that: @San Diego State, @Utah State, home vs. Boise State. BYU must win 1 of those 3 to reach 6-6. Not impossible (I can see them winning 1 or 2), but very dicey.

AAC will make use of every single bowl tie-in that is available to the conference.

Revisiting this...

Already bowling

SMU
Memphis
Cincinnati

Definitely will be bowling

UCF
Temple
Navy

Probably will be bowling

Tulane

Unlikely bowling

ECU
Tulsa
Houston

Not bowling

USF
UConn

If we send a team to the NY6, I think one of our bowls goes unused...

Usf in the the "not bowling" section seems premature. They're 4-4 and have shown signs of getting things together.

USF has a tough schedule but going 2-2 isn't beyond their ability. I would put them in possibly at this point. and Tulane with 5 wins as probable.

- 3 out of USF's last 4 games are at home
- only road game is at UCF

Best case I can make is 2-2, with wins against Memphis & UCF

Memphis- they do a lot of things to beat themselves, so that gives USF a chance

UCF - Rivalry Game. Recall that a woeful USF team almost beat UCF's Fiesta Bowl team in a game that USF had NO business hanging around. Similarly, UCF hung around toward the end in 2016 that made CWT so mad that he ran up the score in the waning moments. Rivalry Game.

With that said we can easily go 0-4 in November.

I was enjoying the assertions three weeks ago that Navy wouldn't win two out of Tulsa, USF, Tulane

Houston (3-5)... (@UCF, vsMemphis, @Tulsa, vsNavy)
Tulsa (2-6)... (@Tulane, vsUCF, vsHouston, @ECU) - Showed plenty of life yesterday
