I'm glad for all the favorable publicity it's bringing American Conference basketball. My guess is the Tigers will have some amazing victories and some head scratching losses with all this young talent.

Memphis is a great college basketball town and I look forward to seeing its arena packed again and renewing what was a terrific rivalry in days gone by. UC needs a strong Memphis, Houston and Wichita at a minimum to keep media focused upon the "major seven" moniker for AAC basketball. The middle of the conference is improving; the top should be every bit as strong as the top of the new Big East.

Mick and Hugg's defenses are what would frustrate these young, talented teams. Hopefully Brannen's does the same while including a more dynamic offense. I'm excited to see what he brings to the table here.

I'm a little surprised at all the hype Wiseman is getting with regards to how it will impact Memphis and their season. I know he is good, but bigs typically take longer to develop and his hype is based on his NBA potential. Most of these kids go from playing one or two 7 footers a season to one each game and its the biggest adjustment. Depending on if you count Zion as a big or not, the last true center to come in and win the player of the year and really carry a team as a freshman was Anthony Davis.

I never thought I'd see USF predicted to finish in the upper half of a conference UC was a member of. One of ESPN's analysts thinks USF will be 4th in the AAC!

Cheatin' John Calipari's only been able to mold one of those one-n-done super teams into a championship, so I doubt that Penny is going to step in here and pull it off.

Coach Brannen also mentioned it prior to Midnight Madness, though it seemed like they believe it to be a bigger concern in this article than I was led to believe. Brannen mentioned he had been out for some time.

Makes you wonder exactly when the injury occurred and how it impacted him. Hopefully he will be in shape and fill go to start the season. I think a healthy Cumberland will make this team better than a lot of people realize.

He's an Anthony Davis type big...I don't think he'll fall into the bigs typically take longer to develop camp.

Definitely not worried about Memphis basketball until after football season is over.
