Speaking for myself, I support and root for the NIU TEAMS not an individual coach (except for Joe Novak).

Not to say i dislike these men when they leave. They just don't work for the school I follow and support anymore.

You are a fanboy of these guys.

To put it another way..I am not a Lion fan...but I support and root for Kenny G to crank it up. If, and when Kenny G leaves to another, unless a huskie is there I will not care about the lions. ... the " fan dude" hopes my explanation is suffice for you!!

Reposting here as it was decided the subject of the post is Rod Carey. My apologies for incorrectly posting it in another discussion:

Temple changed their slogan when Carey got there. They loved Rod immediately, saw the infatuation by some on the Dog Pound. So they decided they had to come up with something that felt good. So came " The Way Hard."

RE: Other teams with NIU coaches: Dave Doeren, Rod Carey and PJ Fleck-discussion
Summary:

Minnesota 10-1 Against 9-2 Wisconsin (ESPN game-day: First time in Minnesota). A win gives Gophers an outright B1G East title and trip to Indianapolis. Row the boat!
PJ might be the most talented coach ever to graduate, play or coach at NIU.

Temple should go 8-4 today after losing narrowly to a ranked Cincinnati team 13-15 when a blocked field goal conversion turned into two points for Cincinnati. With five AAC teams above Temple an overmatched bowl is unlikely. Temple might end the season with a bowl win.

NIU 5-7, conference 4-4. Excellent win over WMU. Third 3 point win over a MAC team with better record. Season ends on high note.
Worst MAC conference performance since 2007 and second worst in maybe last two decades. Hopefully this was a new coaching staff settling in experience.( CSSB ranking 110/130 ). Next year should be much better and NIU should compete to win the MAC again.

NC State: 4-7, current CSBB ranking 101/130 might go 4-8. Already last in AAC Atlantic. Might end up ranked behind NIU.
A nightmare of injuries this year for Dave Doeren. Luckily he has job security.

I was just watching ESPN College football Gameday. PJ has really energized that fan base. Winning will do that. I’m rooting for Minnesota to beat the Badgers today. Row that boat ! Love what he’s done over there so far.

We usually finished at the top of the MAC, as a result we were scheduled against a stronger team in bowls.

I think he meant you guys finished at a place that gives you guys a competitive bowl.

I think any Bowl we're playing in is likely to be competitive.

What I mean is being overmatched based on your teams past performance in previous years. Example: If Temple plays a 10 win P5 team they will likely be overmatched. A 7 win P5 team would be competitive.

Well, then it's a pointless comment, because we won't be playing a 10 win P5 team anyway.

Probably right.

Ohio State's incredible talent against 3 star recruits from either team.

PJ needs to stop being the center of attention.
Let his team get the credit.

PJ seems to be loved by his team. His ,"loudness" is a part of who he is.
Credit him on:
1) Building an honest and academically Successful environment for his students.
2) Re-energizing the fan base at Minnesota.
3) Getting ESPN game day at Minnesota and WMU.
4) Master motivator and spreading positive hype.
5) Very entertaining and like-able.
6) Building a very successful program at WMU.
7) Taking three star recruits and playing tough against far more talented teams.
8) Transparency
9) Accountability
10) Stating goals that seem elusive or fantastical and then making headway towards achieving them.
11) Comes from a humble background and has achieved success through his unique path.
12) Fired the defensive co-ordinator last year after three terrible games despite being a close friend.
13) Develops three star recruits into NFL talent.

Cons:

1) His running on the field early in the Iowa game cost his team a final chance to keep a drive alive and possibly win the game.
2) His team was outplayed after Minnesota scored and clearly were unable to make key plays.
3) Clearly Out-coached against Wisconsin.
4) Over exuberance that irritates many.
5) His third year recruiting class only #9 in the B1G, behind Iowa, Wisconsin, Purdue, Nebraska and Northwestern.
6) His goal is to win a National title, but his recruiting is nowhere near the level one would think necessary to achieve that.
7) Loudly states his goals, but looks foolish when they fail. Admittedly Minnesota was in the playoff picture before losing to both Iowa and Wisconsin.
8) Many of his ten wins were narrow wins over unheralded teams.
9) Very young, unique and very load to the point of either being hated or loved.
10) May be better at marketing than he is at achieving, (then again 10-2, #8th ranking CFP, beating Penn State with far more talent is impressive, but how can Minnesota beat Ohio State to win a B1G and then compete for a National title?)

Bowl games:

1) Temple #40 8-4 vs #53 North Carolina ACC 6-6 On 27th December Military Bowl in Annapolis

2) Minnesota #14 vs Auburn #12 outback bowl on January 1st.

Predictions:

1) Temple should win. Atlast Rod Carey gets an opponent that is not rated significantly higher than his team.

2) Regarding the Outback bowl, Big 10 coach of the year PJ Fleck, will have another chance on national stage to show that his young three star recruits, can match another recruiting power house in Auburn. If the same Auburn team that beat Bama shows up, Gophers will likely lose. They should make it close.

Sam Pitman is the new Head-coach of Arkansas.
Wishing him luck and success in his job.

So we have:

Rod Carey at Temple in the American League. Best G5 conference.

Dave Doeren in the ACC.
PJ Fleck in the B1G.
Sam Pitman in the SEC.

Any chance of an NIU connected coach becoming a head coach in the B12 or PAC12?

Temple is a 4.5 point underdog against North Carolina.
Am predicting again that Temple wins.

Gophers are only 7 Point underdogs against Auburn!
Am guessing several Auburn players might sit-out of the game for this to be the betting line?
