Turks bring peace to middle east
https://www.foxnews.com/world/turkey-syr...ry-assault

Got to admit, this was funny.

"...President Recep Tayyip Erdogan tweeted that the maneuvers being carried out against Syrian Kurdish forces – which Ankara considers terrorists allied with a Kurdish insurgency within Turkey – are part of Operation Peace Spring.

"Our mission is to prevent the creation of a terror corridor across our southern border, and to bring peace to the area," he said in a tweet. "#OperationPeaceSpring will neutralize terror threats against Turkey and lead to the establishment of a safe zone, facilitating the return of Syrian refugees to their homes...."

So the Kurds brought peace to the area and the Turks are bringing peace by starting a war. They created 300,000 refugees in the west of Syria with their last operation and so they are bombing civilian villages and driving people from their homes in order to re-settle people who lived elsewhere. Think that's called ethnic cleansing.

I love the Turk's explanation of, "you can't call it genocide because that word didn't exist back then".

How incredibly sad it must be for our men, who fought beside the Kurds on Saturday, now forced to do nothing—do nothing but watch their Kurdish friends get slaughtered.

Another piece on Turkey's pitfalls. Note that US has effectively closed Syria's skies to Turkish planes. They will have to attack from the Turkish side of the border.

"...There are already signs that not everything will go smoothly for Turkey. Pentagon spokeswoman Carla Gleason told the Anadolu Agency Oct. 7 that Turkey had been removed from the air tasking order of the Combined Air Operations Center set up to counter IS.

“The US military has effectively shut Turkey off Monday from the air space in northeastern Syria, taking a series of actions that reduce the possibility that Turkish jets could support a planned military operation there,” the agency reported...."

Actually, it might bring peace. Beat someone bad enough, and they're unlikely to resort to war next time.

I'm reminded of the book Starship Troopers. The movie was corny, but the book was actually some deep political philosophy. Here's the relevant part from the movie:

Quote:"Violence is the supreme authority from which all other authorities derive."

"My mother always said violence never solved anything"

"Really? I wonder what the city fathers of Hiroshima would say about that? ... Naked force has resolved more issues throughout history than any other factor. The contrary opinion - that violence never solves anything - is wishful thinking at its worst."

This. I love how all of the pundits bring on Generals and Colonels no one has every heard of to ask if it is a good idea to get out of skirmishes. That's like asking a coon dog if he wants to hunt coons or sit on the porch.
