UAB vs UTSA prediction thread
We are 10 point favorites. The roadrunners do not seem too confident in their team. All of their predictions have us winning.
I think we jump out early and we get a lot of 2nd string some road playing time.

I am going to say that we play a little tight at first, but Lucious Stanley takes advantage of a thin box due to us going over the top early and often to have his first 100+ yard game.

I think we win, but it's closer than the spread.

If Johnston manages to stop throwing it to the wrong guys it will be a big win.
If not, UAB wins, but doesn't cover the spread.

Kendall Parham will step on a trombone after a touchdown.

They have a pulse and the UTSA roster is full of FBS athletes.
If we can hit them hard early and our defense makes them work(nothing easy)
We win big.
If they stay in the game,I hope we can prevail.
It was great getting all our players minutes in Akron and vs USA.
It would be awesome if we can get all our players time in an awayCUSA game.

RE: UAB vs UTSA prediction thread
Their defense will force Tyler into quicker decision making. If he handles that well and avoids the turnover plague of the past two games, and if we aso can establish at least a modest run game with Stanley early, then we win by at least two scores.
If not it will likely be a game decided on the last possession like wku.
We dont have as much margin over CUSA teams as some may think. Our wins have come against very weak competition. Our Oline, already struggling with a lower division opponent in game one when at full strength, is depleted by injury. We are improving, particularly on the defensive line, but our offense is still periodically struggling against mediocre competition due to the absence of a reliable ground game. Second half of Rice game gives me some hope, though.
We also have little depth at middle linebacker. Our starters are studs but Im not convinced that the second wave is ready.
Corner depth is suspect, also. Lots of injuries in the secondary this year. Two of our best out for the season and another starting safety who couldnt play last week.
But despite all that, I anticipate a road win. Any road win is a great win.

RE: UAB vs UTSA prediction thread
Things that I've seen lacking for the most part this yr are - turnovers by the D that put the offense in good position or just outright score, sacks putting their O in bad places & that one game/play that just makes the rest of the season ie blocked kick vs LaT or beat down of LaT last yr. I hope this is the game where all/one of these things happen.

We didn't jump out early but we did lead from start to finish. And we finally scored in the 4th quarter. I almost predicted the score.
WE ARE 5-1!!!!

The Oline opened some running lanes in this game for Brown and Stanley. Having a ground game made a difference. Stanley needs to become our third and short option because he hits the hole decisively and with some power and size.
Nuss came in for Jones and played well at guard. Ive been critical of our line play but I thought this game showed a clear improvement, particularly on the road.
We also need improved play calling in the red zone. Four field goals will lose games in the final half of this schedule. Too many QB runs in the red zone.
Finally, Give Stanley at least 15 carries a game. He runs consistently hard, and has good quickness and speed, and his yards per carry prove it. Little Brown was impressive also. He has a burst we havent seen in our backfield in several years. Haden just seems limited, and doesnt seem to be able to get past the LBs. I still want to see what Wooden can do.

RE: UAB vs UTSA prediction thread
We did well in first and second downs. 3rd and 4th downs were worse than our schedule is bad. This is not an outlier. We have been mostly terrible on 3rd and 4th all year(Offense).
Are we going with a smaller playbook on 3rd and 4th?
Are Opposing teams defensive coaches overplaying due to keys the pick up when scouting us?
Or are we just trying to force our will to run against an immovable object(8 in the box)?
