If our OL waits around to start playing, Temple will skull drag us...
And they do ... Poor blocking and tackling catch up with us ...
Temple 33 ... Tigers 20
So you think Temple scores more on our D than they did against ECU last week. And they beat us worse than they beat Maryland, Buffalo, or ECU. interesting
We're kinda due for a higher scoring game. We've had too many drives we haven't finished. 500 yards of offense should net you more than 27 points.
Maybe so, but smart money says you won't get it against us.

We've played down to our competition.
Our OL hasn't played as well as it has been in years past. Henderson and Pollard went pro at the right time...they wouldn't have their level of success with this year's OL blocking for them.
Brady White hasn't been able to feel comfortable for an entire game for him to be able to sustain a good passing offense,
Before you mention Gainwell and his success...I point out our offense is ranked 43.
When has a Memphis Norvell coached offense been rated that low?

First, when has he had to deal with a starting RB, WR and TE being lost for multiple games?
Gainwell, and our rushing offense is very close to where we should be. It's not a bad OL that is hurting us. We've played multiple option/ball control teams and our TOP is somewhat lower than it has been, even with longer more sustained drives.
We didn't start of the season with Mercer this year. Playing ole miss is a big difference and our offensive output was lower.
Memphis is also 29th in total offense, not 43rd. 32nd in rushing, 66th in passing. But some of our lower rankings are other offenses that are lighting up yardage as well.
We are also 5-0, something no Coach Norvell led team has ever been, so there's that.

We're allowing 13.4 PPG, so I could say the same for you against us

Partially due to scheduling: Scoring offense ranking for teams that Temple has played (130 teams):
Maryland - 13
Buffalo - 96
East Carolina - 110
Georgia Tech - 127
Bucknell - FCS but would be dead last at 13.8 ppg

See point about you can only play the teams on your schedule.

I didn't make the claim "we're kinda due" on offense. My point was our D and your O. You will not get a "higher scoring game" against us, due or not.

They did put 56 points up on 0-5 Bucknell which was the only game that they had more than 500 yards of offense. I guess the schedule did that.

We haven't had a complete game yet. So, yeah, we've kind of played down to competition. At the same time, I believe we've covered every game - so have we really played down?
You want to mention Henderson, but issue a disclaimer on Gainwell? Not so fast. Gainwell is averaging a similar number as DH per carry. Not as many yards, but keep in mind he entered the season as #2. We've had 2 of our top playmakers go down early this season.
I agree Brady hasn't made the leap I hoped he would. But he's certainly not regressed. The OL is not as good - as expected. Still a work in progress.
But, again, I was talking about our D versus their O. Someone mentioned them scoring 33 against us. No way their O has a breakout game against the best D they've played all year.

If we were playing at home, I would have no doubt as to who would win. On the road, I would take a 1 point win very happily. Temple and UC are the ones on the schedule that concern me the most.
you forgot about Tulane they the one who kicked our as$es last year!
Should be a very good game. Homecoming for Temple and the atmosphere should be electric. Temple is not a flashy team, just hard-nosed bloody your mouth tough. Always gets underestimated. Very good lines on both sides of the ball. Skill players are good. Only weakness is special teams. Memphis WILL be tested.

I believe Isaiah Wright would say that special teams is not a weakness. That guy is money.

Reminds me of the Temple team that beat us up under Fuente. I do enjoy this road trip though. Great city, great food and the fans showed up.
