RE: Game 7: JMU
Speaking of fans in the stands. A middle-aged couple near me admitted they were sitting in the wrong seats and asked if it was okay. I jokingly said that it depended on who they were rooting for. She said that it depends because their son (also there) is a W&M student but they have a daughter at JMU. Turns out they are both Purdue grads. Later, they were talking about Big 10 scores they were viewing on their phones. Another lady two rows ahead turned around and said that she is also a Purdue alum!!
So, counting the Purdue fan I saw in the section last game, and counting NJ Alum, that makes 5 Purdue fans. Maybe they should open a Purdue Alumni auxiliary in Zable.

You think Huge's "awesomeness in building relationships" is the reason Tomlin attended his 25th Year HC?

Student section was 80% full. I'll take that any time. JMU's section was full. That's good too. There were also a lot of JMU fans in the home side. I had a row of them behind me, and the one college age kid said: "Dad, these seats are great. Thanks for hooking us up." Dad said: "No problem. They were easy to get." I have no clue what that was all about, but they weren't rooting for the good guys.
I also saw a lot of folks that were mixed JMU/Tribe in the same group. Some JMU students with Tribe students.
All nice, and the JMU fans were civil, but I'll bet there were about 2,000 of them.
The group I was with actually mentioned the opposite, they were surprised there weren't more JMU fans there, being #2 and such a large school. I know they still had some of their 1,000 ticket allotment still left to sell early last week, despite the "conspiracy" to keep them out (tin hat alert), so I think you are a bit generous on the estimate.
We had 10,800 last year for Maine with a hundred or so fans. So with 11,800 Saturday, more likely closer to 1,200 for JMU. Half of those would probably rather have been wearing green had things worked out differently, so they like visiting.
Also, W&M is arguably the best road trip in the CAA. Whether it's JMU, UR, Delaware or Villanova, they all bring nice contingents to Williamsburg.

They can come to the Gold Lot and sit with me.
I was in the Gold Lot the whole game. Never went into the game. Lots of elbow room in the Gold Lot this year ... even for Homecoming ... no change from prior games (except for a JMU tailgate or two) ... very comfortable.

Yep, same in other lots too, historically light homecoming tailgate performance, with exception of Hall lot where all the JMU fans parked.

They've been a top team for several years and they will continue to ride that momentum. Coaching changes have only improved their recruiting because guys who were wooed by the previous staff want to stay committed to a top team, the new coach brings in his prize recruits, and FBS players love what JMU offers. They really have a great thing going.
Our season is going about as well as anyone could have reasonably expected. I thought we'd be much better offensively, but evidently, we're only explosive against PL squads. I've been really impressed by several TFr and we'll need another class or two like theirs to contend.
Getting smoked by 4 TDs on a HC weekend following an off week is inexcusable. Our staff needs to look within because that beatdown isn't all on our players. Penalties were a major factor in where we started drives and where the Dukes started drives. It's an embarrassing stat line and screams undisciplined ball.

Thanks for the kind words. On transfers when we've looked at it, it doesn't seem like we're getting more than a lot of schools. We may be getting more who work out (and have had a number who came in with hype and didn't). But on some specifics,
QB. Yep.
Best RB. Hamilton's one of four getting PT right now. I think most would say he's in the top 3. But best? Definitely no consensus that this is true.
Top 2 WR's. OK on Polk. Riley Stapleton was a transfer? Seems odd. I swear I recall sitting next to his dad, at Zable, 4 years ago, when he was a true freshman and they'd been led to believe he might get some time at WR (he didn't).
Top tackler. If Carter's our top tackler, then yes. And he had a great game yesterday. My recollection is that Holloway has been our top tackler most of the season. Off the top of my head, we've got 2 others in the starting D, Davis and Word. Glad we have both of them.
Good luck to you guys the rest of the way. You played us better against the run than anyone else this year.
Tribal misspoke about Stapleton and called him a transfer when he meant to call him a criminal. It happens sometimes.
Riley Stapleton is a criminal, a transfer, and considered in our top 2 WRs. His younger brother is not a transfer or a criminal, and is outside our top 2 WRs.
Random comment: I was surprised by the number of PF penalties on W&M. They're normally better disciplined.

I think the bye week for the Steelers coinciding with his class' 25 year reunion might have played a role.

I don't know about whether or not there were more or less tailgating at HC, as TribFan asserts there were less, but I can tell you that the brand new Football Alumni tailgate was packed, with Bob Solderditch reporting more than 300 ex-players and families at this event I attended.

That's fair and true, but it's also the first time in 25 years he'd been back for a game. Making sure he came back was definitely a good thing.

So much wrong here. Riley is not a transfer. Dylan, the TE, is a transfer from Slippery Rock which is either DII or DIII, not sure.

Yeah ... total suck-up.
Not to mention, he makes it sound like Tomlin has been estranged or something.
Tomlin gave the keynote address at Commencement in 2008 and is a regular at the Tribe football summer camps.

No, I think the guy tweeting that will more likely than not have tweets like that. If you don't want to see tweets that are largely pro-AD marketing, unsubscribe, unfollow, just don't click on it, etc.
