Maybe you weren't aware... we got a new coach or two.

RE: Game 7: JMU
Can you name any other school whose athletics department has pumped up the AD more than ours has since we got a new AD? Why is that?

Regardless of whether one reads the propaganda or not, the reality is that it feeds the perception that the AD is about the AD.

The tweet about Tomlin, and the inference that same was the result of the AD’s outreach, was over the top. I don’t think it was true, and if it was, who brags about it? If anything, it’s a dis-service to Tomlin. No one likes to be a prop in someone else’s ladder-climbing.

And to illustrate how far off the mark the “new team” is ...

Tomlin recognized a recently-widowed long time donor, called her by her first name, and lifted her up in a warm greeting. I have the subsequent picture. That is what should be “front and center” ... not this propaganda crap.

Anyone who attended Homecoming, and talked with fellow alums, knows that all is not well. I learned that the swim coach sent a letter to all swim alumni inferring that the end is near. Has that been publicized? Is that an “awesome job”?

Outreach to Tomlin is unnecessary; outreach to the ostracized donor base is essential. Where is the tweet about the awesome job done in that area? Crickets.

And if it seems that I’m turning increasingly negative, it is because I am.

A soon to be retired alum, author of grad school textbooks, long time donor, and member of the W&M athletics Hall of Fame, offered his expertise, for free, to supplement a biology course offered at W&M. His offer was rejected by the professor. Seriously, who does that if we’re all part of the same Tribe?

It is very hard to financially support the athletics and academics course of the school at this time, and I’ve stopped doing it ... nobody listens, nobody cares, they keep doubling down on stupid.

I love that last phrase. Speaking of swimming, at the football game a couple sat in front of me and he had a Tribe Swimming cap on. When they honored last year's swim team during one of the timeouts I took that opportunity to talk to him about the sport's prospects. They were very depressed about the situation. They have a daughter on the team (who came up later and sat with them). So all is definitely not well in the swimming arena ---- which really gets my goat because a natatorium was specifically mentioned in the For The Bold plans and yet, now that they have raised the money, they apparently are not going to spend it on that. Bait and switch!!

Yeah, that very reaction was the only reason I posted that. Blah.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but aren't posts like that directly part of his job? I don't really know what you're expecting there.

You think Huge's "awesomeness in building relationships" is the reason Tomlin attended his 25th Year HC?

No, I think the guy tweeting that will more likely than not have tweets like that. If you don't want to see tweets that are largely pro-AD marketing, unsubscribe, unfollow, just don't click on it, etc.

I know it's unpopular nowadays, but I actually read or watch people with opposing views because I appreciate both sides of a story or thought. It's what allows me to stay informed and keep an open mind. I follow Huge for that very reason. I don't "follow" Henderson...his tweet came up because people I follow, "liked" it so I saw it. Either way, I don't mind reading that stuff, and since Henderson made his take public, I'm sure he wouldn't mind me voicing my opinion. It's okay to disagree, challenge, and even discuss various opinions if one is so moved.

This is disingenuous. How does "I actually read or watch people with opposing views because I appreciate both sides of a story" get you to:

The follow up seems to indicate you weren't posting the tweet here so everyone could "stay informed and keep an open mind." Stand behind your posts.

This part of the thread has already gone on too long.
