RE: Bowers
Bowers is the least of our problems. Hopefully, the fumbles were a fluke and due to bad weather and won't happen again, but the penalties have been a problem all year. The special teams snafus have been a problem all year. Fix those and the QB is good enough to win games. If the WRs can get open and actually catch the balls that hit their hands, the QB play is terrific and the numbers are pretty close to fantastic. Has Bowers made every play out there? Of course not. Not even Tom Brady hits on every play available. I just saw Aaron Rodgers miss wide open receivers a couple times yesterday. But Ross is playing some good ball. If the receivers play more consistently, OL gets better, and the RBs stop turning the ball over we'll be fine. I'm not sure about the penalties and special teams. I think they'll be a problem all year...

Agree. Team discipline, making avoidable mistakes and giving up over 110 yards in penalties are the biggest problems we face.

Its more of a symptom of being a bad team with little talent. We have Huskie blinders on, we just have to come to the realization this team is short on talent (admittedly even moreso with the devastating injuries to LB unit). That is the biggest obstacle facing this coaching staff. I fear we are underestimating the workload ahead of this coaching staff if we say discipline is a bigger problem than talent. This roster needs a SIGNIFICANT talent upgrade.

Im sure the win % of any team that has 3 TOs and 12 penalties is about 5%. Hammock inherited a championship team that is more talented this year than last year except at 2 spots. He just needs to learn how to reach them. Im hoping he's a fast learner so he doesn't waste a QB like Bowers.

RE: Bowers
Talent wise, this years team is probably top 100. They are probably underachieving slightly at 115 right now, but the penalties and turnovers are making a bad team, really bad.

Bowers is ok but Hammock should give Childers some more reps. I miss the run and gun style of football from the Harnish/Lynch/Childers years. However, out of those three Harnish had the best arm and Bowers could probably have as good, if not a better arm. 04-cheers We need to get better every game.

Please do not bring back the Childers bounce pass.

Probably going to be a ball control type day in Athens, pretty gusty winds behind this cold front, although obviously dry for the game. Windy day with NIU's poor running offense probably does not bode well wouldn't you think?

The frustrating thing with that style, NIU could beat bad teams, but not good teams with speed

Good grief, I need geography 101, I did not realize exactly where in Ohio Athens was located. Wind will not be a factor haha, Bowers, LET IT RIP.

It’s going to take some time to transition to this new style of offense. They love utilizing the TE’s and have been recruiting that position hard. The other QBs on our team were recruited for a whole different offense so Hammock needs to get his guys in there.
