Eh...

They weren't great...Bad matchup for us because they had the one thing we cannot defend.

A mobile quarterback who is competent throwing the ball. Our DLine can get pressure in the pocket but they are not fast and neither are our linebackers so when the scramble drill starts we are in trouble. If their qb was a pocket QB win win this game by 30+.

If we lose a couple of these it is no great disgrace.

All the best to the Tigers!!!

I dont consider any of our FBS opponents to be cupcakes, especially when we play them on the road. We arent an upper-level SEC or B10 team with adc massive size advantage on the lines that can physically dominate any decent FBS opponent. I was really worried we’d lose to either USA or ULM & to come thru that unscathed is a big plus & should help our team with upcoming conference road games.

Note the quotes around cupcakes. Reading this board iit seems cupcakes are defined as any team in a conference deemed below us home or away. Using that criteria we have won two of five against non cupcakes.

"If we lose a couple of these it is no great disgrace."

Well the fact is that many on here think most of our conference mates are cupcakes and unworthy of our presence on the field with them, so those people will wail with disgrace if we lose one, much less a couple.

Doesn't matter what fans think. Hope Norvell has his guys thinking about the next game & only that game every week. We have the players to win them all with focus & execution.

Then suddenly the guys on the left somehow got into the endzone. lol

I'm sorry, but your sarcasm was wasted....

I'm sorry you thought that was sarcasm. Actually I'm not sorry at all.

Back to the play. I've watched this two pt conversion many times now...even in slomo, and I got a guy who played football to watch.... but the camera cuts away at an odd time.

I don't think the War Hawks had a clue what was happening...
It was a great play. But I still can't figure out exactly what we did because the camera doesn't show where all of the players lined up.

Somehow our guy just did it.

Another one that was magnificent was the kicker getting the onside kick.

Okay, I will explain it. There are 4 guys over the ball. The center, the QB is behind him in the shotgun, and there are two running backs with him. Now, the identities of each (direct snap to Gainwell instead of White, those are "full backs" not "running backs", etc.) are not important.

11-4=7, so the remaining 7 players are over on the side, 6 lineman, and one receiver or running back in THEIR backfield.

The idea is, the "QB" has his choice, depending on what the defense does. If he thinks more defensive players are lined up over the ball than, say, 4, Like they are matching our 4 players over the ball, with 5 defensive players, that leaves 6 players matched with our 7 on the other side of the field. If that's what's up, then the "QB" will throw a sideways pass to the back or receiver, the 6 guys up front block for the receiver. But if the defense leaves only 3 players over the ball, then the "QB" will just take it straight in with the two extra backs at his sides blocking for him. There are various wrinkles to this formation, like making sure that if you throw to the other guy behind the blockers, make sure you throw it laterally or backward so that the receiver's ability to pass the ball is preserved (double pass play).

OM would never play ULM at Monroe, so it's not even speculation, it's an impossibility.

You really think they are good? They are an average team at best. We made them look good. You cant lose 72 - 20 to an okay Iowa State team and be a good football team. We made them look better than they are. I personally saw 2 average teams Saturday playing terrible defense. Hopefully I am wrong but I am nervous about the second half of the season.
