Rice Cross Country at Chile Pepper
The men finished 10th out of 32 teams, and 5th among Division I schools (Texas, Oklahoma State, Arkansas and Lamar were ahead). Importantly, the Owls finished ahead of North Texas and Baylor, among others.

Hociel Landa (37) - junior
Alex Topini (56) - junior
Ace Castillo (63) - redshirt freshman
Andrew Abikhaled (74) - sophomore
Travis Dowd (91) - freshman
-----------------------------------------
Adolfo Carvalho (102) - senior
Matthew Murray (118) - junior

The women are racing as I type this.

Why are we losing to D2 and Community colleges?

To me, that’s concerning but I could be misinformed... My dad was a D3 All-American XC runner at a NESCAC school and he commented to me once after going to a Rice XC meet that the best NESCAC schools could compete with us... I mean, at least they’re academically competitive... But a community college!?

JC schools typically have foreign runners with low TOEFL scores.

But the best DII schools like Adams State would be top 10 in DI.
