He's tough but I just hope he doesn't get killed behind that smoke and mirrors OL. I know we've got Bryant in the wings but he has no real game experience. There will be a drop-off if Ridder goes down IMO. Keep him healthy at all costs.

The offensive line is struggling, but hopefully they continue to improve. They have had some streaks of good play and with how young they are there is definitely some hope they will continue to progress.

Hopefully he stays healthy but for the most part I think they are doing what they can to keep him healthy. Relying on the run game, frequent quick passes and screens, etc...

I actually have quiet a bit of faith in Bryant if he happens to be called on. I’m sure there will be a drop off but if the coaches gameplan to his strengths I feel good he can continue to compete with our run game and defense.

Talkin' some dee...through 5 games safety Darrick Forrest leads the team with 42 tackles [25 solo], followed by LB Wright [25], LB White [24], LB Young [22] and CB Coby "Island" Bryant [22].

M. Pitts leads with 4 sacks, Vann 3, Ponder 2, Wright 2, and Tucky 1.

Here's what I like - 5 dudes have a pick: White, Young, Hicks, Jefferies, and "Sauce" Gardner.

The offensive line play has not been that bad. It's not the strength of the team at this point,, but they've been workable. Your not going to be 4 and 1 with bad offensive line play. I throw out the Osu game up there as honestly we were bad in all areas of the game. They outplayed Ucf's oline Friday night, and honestly they handled Marshall's defense the week before.

What is real promising is that they had to rely in 2 new guys to come in for the UCF game. So now they are even building depth at the OL. if you are having guys step up in games like that that is a big sign for next year.

I think the Offensive Line has struggled at points this season, but I also believe they potential is there and believe by the end of the season they will be much improved if they can stay relatively healthy. I know some have made comments about Metz struggling at times, but they forget he hasn’t really played organized football like most College players and is mostly getting by on his natural physical ability. Once he starts learning the ins and outs of the position I think you will see a different player (I also don’t think he has been as bad as some have acted).

You can definitely see the talent level on the Offensice Line has improved from the Tuberville era IMO.

I believe Metz is improving. Watching him on replays it looks like he has more of a problem with people coming down inside across his face. This usually indicates that he gets too high when blocking his inside gap. His size can be a detriment until he learns to control his first move out of his stance.

Yep, that’s where I think it will help him as he continues to refine his technique and not just rely on his natural physical ability. I think we will continue to see a lot of improvement out of him as the season progresses.

RE: UCF Aftermath: Let's Keep This Thing Rollin'
Because our OL has so little game experience, I really do expect to see them get better as the season wears on (and they gain that experience). I have been pleasantly surprised the last couple of weeks.

My biggest fear right now is injuries. With 2 guys out, I think the starters played virtually every snap. Injuries do happen in football, and our OL depth appears rather thin.

We can't help injuries, but the offensive line is generally a position where guys will never be rotated. I am not worried about them playing every snap, as that is what being an O-lineman is. We have to hope these guys stay healthy though. I don't think we will face many more great defensive front's so I think our line will start to look much better.

We seem to keep things under wraps. Last week for example Arquon Bush was still listed as being out indefinitely but he played against the Disney kids. Only updates I currently see are that Pitts and McDonald are questionable against Houston.

Pitts has been having a great year and I would love for McDonald to get back in action just for the sake of the kid as well as increased depth and I am sure a big additional to special teams.

Speaking of Offensive Line Fick just mentioned in his presser that Cooper will be out and likely won’t make it back this year. He was hopeful Ferguson would be ready for Houston, if I understood him correctly.

That seemed like an odd report because Bush made his return against Marshall, and seemed to have made it through the game without issues.

I believe Cooper red shirted last season; could only 4 games this year allow him to apply for an injury waiver and be allowed 6 years(play 4 more seasons)?

I would think he would at least have a shot at a medical hardship redshirt considering he was hurt during the 5th game, but when it comes to the NCAA who knows really.

RE: Ferguson from the presser:

Senior Chris Ferguson (foot/ankle), who has started games at both left and right tackle, has a chance to return Saturday at Houston, according to Fickell, after missing the UCF win.

"Hopefully," said Fickell about Ferguson. "We'll see how he feels by Wednesday and Thursday."

Would be good to get him back. Was hoping the line would improve as the season wore on but hopefully they can remain healthy enough to do so.

Only if his first redshirt was not elective.
