Flags - and not the refs
Did anyone else notice..... the Bearcats helmets tonight featured the flag of the almighty USA! in the back.

But Mr. Metz, our starting offensive tackle, as a proud citizen of the Bundesrepublik Deutschland, had the German flag VERY conspicuously displayed on his helmet next to the US flag.

Is there anything more Cincinnati than that?

If we can keep using our collective German heritage to pull the best athletes out of Germany, I'll proudly approve (despite my own French and Polish ancestry)

What a helluva win! Go Bearcats!

Very cool! Didn't notice it but will look for it next game.

On the game refs I thought the crew last night was about as bad as they come. So many missed calls on UCF in the first half and the spot of the ball on UC's final drive where ESPN replay clearly showed UC picked it up both times was just absurd. Made me wonder if the refs were doing everything they could to give UCF a chance to pull it out. Maddening.

Ref on one attempt marked the spot with his right foot (clearly a first down) then steps forward with left hand and places ball at least a half yard back.

Saw that. He's either incompetent or had an agenda.

Those back-to-back spots on 2nd & 3rd downs were brutal.

Saw Metz's. Did Smith have an Aussie sticker?

Chris Ferguson has a Bahamian flag on his, and Bruno Labelle has a Canadian flag. Would be safe to assume James Smith has an Australian flag on his helmet too.

I love my American flag, but I really like that players from other countries get to display their own flags.

Also thought about having the German groups around town having Metz over to give him a taste of home.

I predict Metz will lead the Oktoberfest chicken dance before his career is over.

I'm pretty sure theyve had them all year. Metz has a German flag, Ferguson has had a Bahamian flag, and James and Labelle have Canadian flags.
