For whatever reason I thought this was just a MM change, not a permanent one - I guess I missed that.

On radio, saying it might be controversial. Saying traditional fans might not like it, but younger fans/recruits will probably love it.

A couple of you guys nailed it. Penny has his pulse on what's hot with the younger generation and has a knack for slick marketing. To hell with what we old pharts think, if it draws the attention of today's kids in a positive way then that's the way we need to go. I want it to grab the attention of the kids who are or will be playing on that floor. I don't care if it's neon pink with unicorns all over it, as a fan I'm watching the games regardless.

This will most likely be a one time thing for the court like last year's Madness was. Some of you need to stop freaking out

In honor of Lil Baby, they're also changing the height of the official goals.

Think I saw somewhere that this will be the court for the season.

That's what the Penny Hardaway era is all about. We're trying to differentiate from the "old-school" norm and relate to the recruits and younger fanbase (who matters most).

Turning the Peach Jam into the Penny Hardaway show
Blacktop court for last year's Madness
Suits and Ties for players at Madness
Strong lineup of music acts that relate to the youth
Mercedes Van with 1C logos, TV screens, leather, etc
"We want all the smoke"
"Get the F outta here, Rick Barnes"

Older fans cringe at this, but younger fans (and recruits) love it. Older fans will still buy tickets as long we keep winning. We'll keep winning as long as we get recruits that buy in.

Here is what doesn’t make sense, and I’m not old by any stretch. Why make the older fans cringe. The young ones, as you referred, didn’t mind the previous one. All fan bases range from all ages. Can’t forget the older fan base which has supported the program the longest, donated the most, over the younger hey we are good now let’s do it my way group. That’s a forgetting where you come from attitude that is detrimental in the big picture.

I think you are missing the point...

It aint about the fans at all...Old or Young...

It is about the recruits. I am sure you would agree that as long as we are winning that the color of the court doesn't matter and if a blue court helps us win...Paint that b1tch.

Not sure what Nancy has to do with basketball but we HAD the #1 class in 2019. This is about keeping momentum going forward, we are an "IT" program right now - gotta keep that energy.

Lol...Ok

Even so if the new courts attracts more recruits isn't that even better.

Ultimately fans care about the product on the court... if a fan is going to abandon a team for a floor design were they really a fan

Well it sorta depends on what they're cringing about. If the court is profane or depicts James Wiseman dunking over christ on the cross, yes, maybe we should listen to that cringing.

If it's something like "waaah there's too much color on the court," then they can just deal with it.

The court will be used for the next few seasons.

The court will be loved and hated.

The court will be a marketing tool.

The court will look great after we win and stupid if we don't.

We will win.
