UCF v. Cincinatti
Who do we need to win this one? I've been thinking we'd be better off having UCF win out and then beat them in the championship game (obviously if we do what we need to do).

However, after they dropped a game, now might be the time to show the rest of the country we aren't a one team league. Outside of the Ohio State game (and let's face it OSU is making everyone look bad), Cincy has a good resume with wins over UCLA and VT.

I'm gonna try not to vomit and pull for Cincinnati.

Cincinnati didn't and doesn't play VT. Their win over them in the bowl game last year means absolutely nothing to this year.

I won't take time correcting errors in your statement and skip to the point.

What favors MEMPHIS, UCF win or Cincy win? I think it's tit for tat. A win for Cincy should pull them up/into rankings and start their climb. I think more important than this win, is that the winner wins out until we beat them in CCG.

To totally disect it, UCF is ranked higher and has a name. Ideally they would win out until the CCG game, including vs Cincy.

Cincy winning the AAC or even AAC East decreases the value of AAC nationally, because yes they did get drummed by Ohio State.

I want UCF to lose a conference game so the CCG will be here (assuming we win out in conference).

If we win out, we're undefeated and UCF would have the loss to OOC Pitt. Doesn't that give us home field advantage?

Unfortunately, no. Overall record isn't used if at least one team is ranked in the CFP:

Quote:The site of the Championship Game is the home stadium of the division champion with the best overall conference record. In the event that the two division champions are tied, then the head-to-head record shall be used as the tiebreaker. If the two teams did not play, the following procedure is used to determine the host:[5]

College Football Playoff ranking, under the following conditions:
- If only one division champion is ranked entering the final week of conference play, it will host if it wins in that week. If that team loses, a composite of four computer rankings is used to determine the host.
- If both division champions are ranked, the higher-ranked team that won in the final week will host. If, in this scenario, neither wins in the final week, the same computer ranking system is used.
- If neither division champion is ranked, the aforementioned computer rankings are used.
- If neither CFP nor computer rankings determine a host, the teams' records against common conference opponents are used.
- If still tied, overall record determines the host.
- Finally, a coin toss is held at the conference offices.

Drummed by a top 5 team is better than losing to an unranked one.

Cincy winning would help Memphis much more than UCF. For multiple reasons.

If we win out, we host the AAC Championship game.
Dispels the myth that the AAC is a 1 team conference.
Increases our SOS during the season.
Shuts up their fans... maybe... for a game... not really, but it sounds good.
I can't stand UCF, ok that doesn't really help Memphis, but it doesn't change that fact either.
Cincy is a longer standing rival than UCF.
Cincy will possibly be ranked at the end of the season, which will help us with the Access Bowl chase.
Will also shift the focus from UCF to the Memphis/SMU matchup as the most important G5 game.

Enough of a list for you?

All of this. My opinion also. People acting like it's not even worth debating aren't seeing the whole picture.

Don’t get testy. I was seriously curious.

Nor is beating a rebuilding 1-4 UCLA much to write home about. At home, last game of the regular season, I like our chances at this point.

UCF's Freshman QB is having one bad night. Get some D up on him quickly and he gets pretty jumpy. He's been pounded several times tonight.
