Credit to chrisattsu for posting this on the WAC board.

Now everything is on track for Tarleton State to join the WAC in the fall of 2020 along with Dixie State, ofsetting the departures of CSUB to the Big West and UMKC to the Summit League.

I didn’t know they were part of the A&M system.
Opened in 1899 as a private college, but optioned itself to both UT and A&M in 1917 as a satellite campus before that was a thing.

A&M took the option and Tarleton became the first member school of the A&M system

Officials from the Texas A&M system will be there. I guess they got the blessings from the main campus.

Maybe this is splitting hairs, but Texas A&M University had nothing to do with it and could not have cared less.

Congrats Tarleton. Good move. Look forward to future scheduling with you guys. It's very old history, but our campuses were once similar and intense athletic rivals. And both were northern campuses of the Agricultural & Mechanical College of Texas. You guys stayed with them and we got out in 1965, which A&M later privately admitted was a big mistake to let happen. Maybe Earl Rudder's biggest faux pax. A few years later they started scrambling to assemble a system and they got a bunch of little guys.
