Ohhhhhhhh he still trolls around the MAC board for some reason.

Just look at the WAC board thread on this.
Lawd you weren't joking. At least he's getting piled on for being Nostradamus-lite

For anyone who thinks the WAC has the luxury of tossing out Chicago State, think again. A hodgepodge bottom-feeder conference barely clinging to existence cannot easily afford to lose any schools, and that includes Chicago State.

GCU is flush with cash and could upgrade their soccer stadium for football.

Seattle and Cal Baptist? Too small and private

Utah Valley? Not in the shadow of BYU

Utah Valley is an excellent candidate to add a football program. They are the biggest university in the state of Utah and closer to the main population centers than Weber State, and especially Southern Utah and Dixie State.

And, they could get a decent schedule with 3 other FCS programs in the state and other Big Sky schools somewhat nearby. Plus, a nice payday game rotation with BYU, Utah, and Utah State and may be New Mexico State...and especially if a couple more WAC schools add football.

Plus, they already have the land for a stadium, albeit on the opposite side of the I-15 freeway from the main campus.

They have done the study - the cost of adding scholarships far exceeds the cost of 4 cross-country flights for conference games. So unless they want to spend millions more, that is not an option.

It would be a big cost, to add 63 football scholarships plus at least that many women's athletic scholarships. Hard to imagine a small private university like USD paying for that out of the university general fund.

Grand Canyon is a different matter; they have zillions in online-education revenue and could easily start FCS football from scratch if they wanted to do that.

One of the WAC's sports writer who said that MVFC could do an FBS football merger in the WAC also said at the time that Denver and Seattle could start a football program. Both schools could rent out the pro stadiums at the time.

If Seattle do add football? CWU would be a perfect travel partner.

Westminster, UT who recently moved to D2 also talked about adding football. Salt Lake City would be a major airport to think about.

I do not know anything about Seattle showing an interest in football. Someone close to that area would have to pipe up on this topic.

Denver has some sports it concentrates in. Football has not been one that has been recently discussed. Renting an NFL stadium? That's a lot of $$$$$.

From what GCU fans have said on the WAC board, GCU is not interested in starting football. So, doubtful.

UTRGV possibility has already been discussed. However I think that having another FCS school may help with that. I can't recall if they were thinking FCS or FBS.

Utah Valley was seriously contemplating FCS football when they were trying to get out of the Great West and into the Big Sky. The moment they joined and auto-bid conference (WAC), those plans were dropped. Now Dixie State gets more coverage in the Salt Lake metro area than UVU does. Maybe for football, but doubtful.

This is the second time you've mentioned Westminster of SLC. On the WAC board I asked you where they would play as the school is very land locked on the east side of Salt Lake (expensive real estate). They would have to rent a stadium from a high school which would probably not be the best for FCS. Westminster just got into the Rocky Mountain Conference. There has been zero talk in the local media about them wanting to move up or add football. I think they are happy with a regional conference. Highly doubtful on adding football or moving up to D1. Perhaps in 10+ years for a BB-only to D1, but no football.

Just want to point out that Tarleton State HAS NOT ACCEPTED the invitation yet. This fact was made very clear by the school president. One of the things that still needs to happen is the approval of athletic fee increase. There was an open forum this morning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGRhfm6lWjs.

It was also stated by first hand account during the forum that Tarleton State began D1 discussions in 2004, so did David really "predict" a TSU to D1 move.

You know he has an archive of these lists that he just pastes in every thread.
He has been told numerous times that nearly half the schools on this list are not eligible to apply to D1 because they do not have the number of sports required by D1 in addition to the D3 schools as you indicated.

Don’t see UVU adding football, not when BYU-P and Lavell Edwards stadium is about a block away.

If we have not accepted the invite, that is kind of a surprise.

1. Tarletons recent exploration had the WAC and Southland as potentials. I feel like read in the executive summary posted on Tarleotns website that the WAC had offered the Southland was the preference.

That was 18months ago. So based on that nothing has changed expect we put pomp in place.

2. People always say that a conference will back channel and only offer if a yes is in place to save face for both groups.

This is strange unless tarleton is trying to force the Southlands hand

It is a done deal:

https://www.timesrecordnews.com/story/sp...835928002/

The LSC released a statement by commissioner Jay Poerner which simply stated, “On Monday, Tarleton State submitted their official notification of withdrawal from the Lone Star Conference, effective June 30, 2020. They’ve been a valued member of the LSC for many years and we wish them the best of luck with their transition.”

If the WAC becomes a successful FCS conference would NMSU accept FCS status or still holdout for MWC

Looks like a Seattle for NAU trade with SUU thrown in .
Two ten team conferences better geography.
Davis and Poly four WAC schools for WACFC.
Big Sky becomes a tighter ten team conference with nine for football.

Well that doesn’t stop Eastern Michigan having a football program two miles from the largest college football stadium in the country.

I'm just going by what your president says at the beginning of the video. What happens if the students reject the referendum to increase the athletic fee? If the invitation was accepted, has Tarleton State scheduled a "special announcement" press conference that welcomes TSU to the WAC yet? Only asking the questions based on my observation and interpretation. At this point it is now a when TSU goes D1 not an if.
