One of the WAC's sports writer who said that MVFC could do an FBS football merger in the WAC also said at the time that Denver and Seattle could start a football program. Both schools could rent out the pro stadiums at the time.
If Seattle do add football? CWU would be a perfect travel partner.
Westminster, UT who recently moved to D2 also talked about adding football. Salt Lake City would be a major airport to think about.
I do not know anything about Seattle showing an interest in football. Someone close to that area would have to pipe up on this topic.
Denver has some sports it concentrates in. Football has not been one that has been recently discussed. Renting an NFL stadium? That's a lot of $$$$$.
From what GCU fans have said on the WAC board, GCU is not interested in starting football. So, doubtful.
UTRGV possibility has already been discussed. However I think that having another FCS school may help with that. I can't recall if they were thinking FCS or FBS.
Utah Valley was seriously contemplating FCS football when they were trying to get out of the Great West and into the Big Sky. The moment they joined and auto-bid conference (WAC), those plans were dropped. Now Dixie State gets more coverage in the Salt Lake metro area than UVU does. Maybe for football, but doubtful.
This is the second time you've mentioned Westminster of SLC. On the WAC board I asked you where they would play as the school is very land locked on the east side of Salt Lake (expensive real estate). They would have to rent a stadium from a high school which would probably not be the best for FCS. Westminster just got into the Rocky Mountain Conference. There has been zero talk in the local media about them wanting to move up or add football. I think they are happy with a regional conference. Highly doubtful on adding football or moving up to D1. Perhaps in 10+ years for a BB-only to D1, but no football.
